Dover DE I was interested in adopting a boxer and discovered your website while surfing the net.  I'm now the proud owner of a wonderful boxer named Odie, who I discovered on our site. What a wonderful organization to work with!  I'll recommend it to everyone!  All the people I've worked with and talked to have been the best!  And Odie is just a love!  I can't say enough good things about your organization! Katonah NY I was looking for wheels for my senior boxer.   Saturday December 17, 2005
Runnemede NJ I learned of your site from a link from nbc3.com. I have had Boxers since I was born so the minute I found a link to your site I had to find out more. I was so moved from your letters received and the story included in your mission section that I cried. I am living with lupus and my only constant is my Nickalena ( she just turned a year old ). She makes every day a joy even when I am really sick. She is my best friend and she has my heart. So when the time is right for you, please let me know how I can get involved by volunteering time because right now that is all I have to give ( medication is so expensive). Boxers have made my life so wonderful so thank you for all that you are doing. Friday December 16, 2005
Cheltenham PA I adopted Mira from AABR.  I'd e-mailed some pix and a "letter".....but have not seen anything on your website about both Mira's and my good fortune at finding each other.  A few of the pix were awesome, too -- I'm sure the one with her in the hat would get chuckles!  She is also on dogshow.com (search "Mira" in CHeltenham, PA).
My pur, Buster, and Mira get along great....really a lot of love there!  We are a three-member very happy family, now, and Mira's presence has greatly reduced my sadness over the death of my 15 y.o. mixed breed.
Regarding the letter from Ann on advice on first aid kits for dogs.....DogFancy.com (Dog Fancy Magazine) recently had an informative yet short article on this (within last six months). Sunday December 11, 2005
lawrenceville PA I've seen your website. I was refered to you by Homeward Bound Boxer Rescue. I commend you on what your doing. I am a huge animal lover. I've always picked up any dog I see on the side of the road, gotten after friends and neighbors who I thought werent taking proper care of there animals. Volunteered at the local animal shelter, and fostered a few dogs. I'm known in my area as the dog lady. I wish I could be a part of what you are doing. It's always been my dream to do everything in my power to help animals. Keep up the good work. Friday December 09, 2005

Presently, we have Jackson who we have had since September 1, 2005.

It is hard to believe that some people take owning a dog so lightly. There are so many wonderful loving dogs that need a good home. It is comforting to know that there are people who are there for the dogs even when there is no one else. Wednesday July 13, 2005

CMR 411 Box 5175 APO, AE I have always loved the thought of adopting a dog in the future. I started to really like boxers a few years ago, and thought I'd look to see if there's site about adopting one.  So, I just searched on Yahoo and found your site! I think what you guys are doing is really great!  The facts that you include about each dog are very important and I think are helpful to those interested.  My family and I are currently stationed overseas in Germany (that is why my address is a little strange) b/c my husband is in the Army.  So, of course adopting now is out of the question.  But, we will be relocating back in the states next summer.  We probably will wait til my husband gets out of the Army in '07 b/c then we will at least be stable.  But, keep it up!  I check the site on a regular basis to read the stories and see the dogs that are being helped. Who knows...maybe someday soon we will be filling out an application!  Keep up the good work :) Wednesday June 22, 2005

Ashland OH Searching on line. We had a wonderful white boxer who our daughter named Q-Tip (when I really wanted to impress people, I said his name was Senator Tip O'Neill - lol)  We got Tip when he was six weeks old, and he was with us just 7 weeks short of 13 years.  He had developed cancer, and when all treatments were exhausted, it was his time to leave us.  I believe, however, he helped us find our "Q-2" whose name is A.J.  We adopted him from a shelter in PA and he has taken to us as if he had been here all his life.  He and his sister, Tess (a boxer-australian shepherd mix) get along great, and he really cheered her up after she lost Tip.  She came to us when Tip was about 8 years old.   I love searching the rescue sites and hopefully someday will be able to adopt again. Westford Ma I have been looking for a boxer. Our boxer of 11 yrs passed away last November. I have sent application to Boxer Buddies, Northeast Boxer Rescue, Boxer Angels. So far I have had confusing answers to my questions from those Rescue places.
So here I am every night looking over the internet and that is how I found your site.
Is your rescue site an of-shoot of NBR or one of the others, or are you a separate rescue place? If you are separate can I apply for a boxer at your site?
I like your site. Lots of information and great boxers to see.
Please let me know the answers to my other questions.
can you please tell me as to what the longest waiting period is for adopting a boxer?
OUr home has not been the same since our Sabastian passed on and we want to fill our home and give our love to another boxer.

Manalapan NJ We adopted our boxer,Sophia, from Northeast Boxer rescue 2 years ago.  At that time we had just lost our 11.5year old boxer, Phillip, from cancer.  Our home visit was done by Laura & Barbara B. (the last names escape me for the moment).  We picked up Sophia (about 9 or 10 months old at the time) from the Meadow Vet Hospital in White Plains.  I received a mailing telling me that the rescue group with the names and people I am familiar with, had essentially changed its name.  The most important thing in a group like this is the welfare of the dogs.  Despite the difficulties that you inevitably encounter, this must be kept foremost in one's mind...indeed no small task!  God Bless you all for the work that you have done and continue to do for these, our wonderful boxers. New York NY I am interested in adopting a boxer this coming May, but can't bring myself to get one from a breeder when so many rescued dogs need homes, so I've been actively searching the internet.  Your website seems to have the most detailed information, and it's obvious you really care about putting the dogs in good, appropriate homes.  And now I find myself checking at least once a week to see who has been adopted, and who is new! I do have one question:  I live in an apartment in Manhattan.  Will that preclude me from being able to adopt a dog through your organization?  Or does it just depend on circumstances, such as finding a dog who would be comfortable in a city environment? People are always so shocked to learn of the conditions some animals are forced to live in. They are also very positive and supportive when they hear of the rescue group! The new website is great. Letters to AABR Subject
Hi Lisa,

Just wanted to wish you a happy and healthy new year. Hope you are doing well.

Charlotte is doing great. My boys spoil her silly and so do we. By the way, just wanted to let you know that Sassy the Bichon that my Mom adopted a few months ago from your organization is doing great. She has gained a lot of weight. She was in need of a lot of medical care when my Mom adopted her. She still had a lot of problems with her teeth. My Mom took her to a specialist at Red Bank animal hospital. She is now doing so well. She eats great. She also never knew how to play, but over the last 2 months she has started doing a lot of playing. She is so so happy, and talk about spoiled. We just found this groomer whose specialty is grooming Bichon's. The dog is beautiful. You would never be able to recognize her from the skinny scared baby we had a few months ago. My parents have tons of toys and clothes for her. She gets brushed daily, loved, played with, and we all love her. Thanks to people like you and your organization this precious life has been changed from sadness, to happiness. Not only do you help dogs, you help people. This dog has brought so much happiness to my parents and to my brother who is retarded. My dad who tends to be a couch potato now walks her several times a day and now talks to all the neighbors. I just can not thank you enough for this. Thinking about you with warm thoughts.

Take care, Faith

Hi Lisa,

I'm not sure who I should address this to but having read many articles about the dangers of Greenies and finding the information on your website as well, I wanted to mention a couple of things.  It appears that similar issues exist with the Feline Greenies.

I was also very disturbed to find out that one of my local pet boutiques is aware of the information and has advised their employees "not to mention it to customers"!  I am a dog walker and cat owner and have purchased many Greenies in the past for "my" pups and my own cat.  I have a supply at home that I had planned on giving out as holiday treats...needless to say, I will try to return them to the store.  But, I am beyond appalled that a neighborhood store that should have a love of animals is more interested in their bottom line (the jumbo variety there sells for $5 a piece).

I don't want to get the employee who told me in trouble so I won't mention the name of the shop here.  But, please warn people that local stores may not be very "upfront" about the dangers.

Thanks very much for your informative site.

Sincerely, Nancy

Dear Sandy,

If you want Rocky back you will have to bring ten men with you.  Bill is not letting go and neither is anyone else.  We got him a very nice collar and leash with southwestern design.

He is happy and jumping all over the place.  Obviously he is happy and comfortable.  When we came home tonight he was very excited.  Earlier tonight when I went upstairs to brush my teeth, he followed me, sniffed around our room and settled down for a little while on the rug next to Bill’s side of the bed.  He and Bill really like each other.

Let me know when you want to come and have us sign our contract.  We will both be home after 7:30PM tomorrow night and in the am on Saturday.  Wait until you see how happy he is and how crazy our family is about him.

Thank you so much for thinking of us.  He really is a nice addition to our family.

U done good!

Elaine
