10/05/16

Coty continues to do well in his foster home.  He receives Apoquel as needed for his skin.  Coty is doing better with people coming into the home.  His foster mom reports that he is a lovebug who really enjoys cuddling.

2/17/16

Coty is only on two medications now for his skin to keep him comfortable and he tolerates them well.  He takes them every other day.  His foster mom reports that Coty is a great dog and is very sweet.  He has come a long way in foster and is very spoiled now.  Coty is still nervous when new people come into the home, but settles down once he becomes comfortable with them.

11/18/15

Coty is responding very well to his new medication.  He is no longer chewing on his paws or scratching.  Coty is getting along great with his foster sister, a female boxer.  He will follow up with the dermatologist next month to monitor his progress.

11/12/15

Coty visited the dermatologist on Monday.  He was diagnosed with allergic dermatitis.  Coty is starting a trial of medication and now has spray for his hair loss.  He will be rechecked in a month to review his progress with the new treatment.  Coty's foster mom indicates that he is very loving and tolerant with his foster family, although he can be very nervous around strangers. We are hoping the new treatment will provide some relief for his skin and will continue to keep his page updated.

8/19/15

Coty is showing improvements in his foster home.  The medication he is taking has almost completely healed his sores and Coty's skin is finally looking a lot better.  He will be going back to the vet for a recheck next week.  Coty knows how to sit and will shake with both paws.  He is very sweet and loves attention.  Coty enjoys relaxing on the furniture or on pillows - the cushier the better! He does need monitored with food around other dogs and is still eating very quickly.  Coty has gained some much needed weight.  We will continue to update his page with Coty's progress!

8/03/15

Coty has arrived at his new foster placement and is settling in well.  Because of several sores all over his legs and paws that were not healing, Coty visited our rescue vet a week ago.  The vet feels he possibly has an autoimmune condition called pemphigus complex.  He just started medication to help treat this.  His foster mom is also working to help Coty gain some much needed weight. We will update his page soon with his progress.

7/06/15

Coty's foster siblings are not accepting him, so he is looking for a new foster placement.  He has put on some much needed weight and his sores are healing.  Coty's current home reports that he is housebroken and does not need to be crated during the day.  He has done well with the other dogs, but does need crated when eating.  Coty loves squeaky toys and playing fetch.  He is a very gentle boy.  If you are able to provide a foster or forever home for Coty, apply today!

6/23/15

Coty has arrived at his new foster home, where he will be living with a male and female boxer. He has been given a bath and his sores are being treated with coconut oil to soothe them.  Coty is very thin, so is receiving four small meals a day.  He is a sweet boy who has definitely suffered neglect in his past.  Coty will be given some TLC and we look forward to watching his progress.  His personality is already starting to shine and he is becoming more playful with each day.

6/14/15

Coty will be neutered tomorrow and will then be arriving at his new foster home this weekend.  He will be living with a male and female boxer.  We will post an update and more pictures once his foster family gets to know Coty better.

6/09/15 -

Coty was found as a stray and is estimated to be around 8 years old.  He is reported by the shelter to be good with other dogs.  Coty only weighs around 45 lbs and needs to gain some weight.  He will be brought up to date on all vet care soon and then transported into Maryland.  Coty is in need of a foster home once he arrives.  Please offer to foster this sweet, handsome senior boy!

Coty was the name of our very first boxer baby.  I loved him for five years of his life.  He passed away very suddenly and unexpectedly.  He had not been sick.  Coty was a sweet and lovable boxer boy.  I have missed him every day since his passing.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 3 months to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Not every home is the right match for a boxer, and matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us at your home visit of other dogs you are interested...  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
