Hooch here checking in.  I have been living with my foster family for five months (in human months).  I love life here because I have a dog brother and sister that I get to play with every day.  I love my humans too, especially when I get to hang out with momma in the human bed.  Dad says that I am a little bit rambunctious, whatever that means.  I just believe it is because I am still very much a young boy that has a lot of energy.  Both think that I am a very handsome guy.  They talked about making me a family member, but they would not be able to help out with any more foster dogs.  Momma said that is where she is needed the most.  I am welcome here for as long as it takes to find my perfect match.

I went on another adventure last week to a store called Bark!  I met two AABR volunteers and a nice couple that spent some time with me.  They all agreed that I am quite handsome.  I got excited when I saw another dog that was barking in the store.  However, I was able to get back to being a silly boxer boy after just a few minutes.

Hooch attended an adoption event over the weekend and did great with all the new people he met.  This handsome boy is still looking for his forever home.  He would do best in a placement with a fenced yard and somebody without long work hours.  If you are interested in providing a home for Hooch, apply today!

Hooch is a very good boy in the house and is completely housetrained.  He is still all puppy and he loves to run and play with his foster sister and brother.  He would really benefit from having a fenced yard.  Hooch knows his basic commands.  He is learning how to tolerate his crate, but would prefer to have somebody home with him.  Hooch is starting to get a nice boxer coat after a month of good food.

Hooch's thoughts:  I love my kibble and if nobody else is watching, I will eat my sister's kibble also.  Of course, it is hard to learn manners when you have lots of other things that catch your attention, like birds and bugs....lol.  My momma and I  are working on leash manners and to not jump up on people.  Again, this is hard when you are just a puppy.  I love to play with my toys and will play well with my foster siblings.  I am also content to play by myself.  Oh yeah, one more thing - I love to sleep in my foster mom's bed and rest my head on a pillow just like she does.  I do love the good life!!  My foster mom thinks I would do best in a home with a sister that can continue to show me the ropes on how to be a good boy.  Are you the right family for me?  If so, get your application in soon!

Hooch is settling in well at his foster home.  He is getting along great with his foster siblings, male and female.  Hooch would do best in a home with another dog that can help provide guidance and confidence for him.  He would also benefit from a fenced yard.  Hooch does bark at things that catch his interest, so wouldn't be the best match for a condo or apartment setting.  If you are interested in adopting Hooch, apply today!

6/23/15 -

Hooch was found as a stray, but was not reclaimed by his owners.  It appears that Hooch had a rough life and was possibly chained outside prior to coming to rescue.  He has sores on his legs and scars on his body.  Hooch was kept temporarily at a house with a small child and he did well.  He is reported to be very sweet.  Hooch knows how to sit and he rides well in a car.  He gets along with other dogs and is housebroken.  Hooch just arrived at his new foster home, where he will be living with two other dogs - a male and a female.  Hooch will need a home that can continue to socialize him.  We will update his page once his foster home learns more about him.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 3 months to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Not every home is the right match for a boxer, and matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us at your home visit of other dogs you are interested...  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
