4/18/16 - MEMORIAL

Clarice lost her fight with Lymphoma today.  She fought as hard as she could.  I rushed her to the ER last night to try to give her some relief, but they only confirmed there wasn't a lot they could do for her.  The lymphoma had spread and she had a large mass in her liver.  I brought her back home and held her in my arms for 24 hours.

Clarice was one of the best dogs I have ever had.  I did everything possible for this girl.  Many thanks to her fans and huge support team.  This girl was loved by many.  Run free, my sweet girl - you will never be forgotten!

Clarice, Clarice, Clarice - where do we start?  Clarice is still getting treatments for her lymphoma and she continues to do well.  She now weighs 63 lbs and is no stranger to her food bowl.  Clarice has celebrated Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Valentine's Day, and is now ready for St. Patty's Day.

She fits in with my three boxers and five cats like a glove.  We are very lucky to have her.  While she continues to do well, she still needs attention to keep her cancer at a slow progression.  Please continue to support this beautiful girl!  Thank you for taking the time to read her update and check back on her page - as Clarice has a lot planned in her future!

1/19/16

Clarice is doing wonderful in her foster home.  She fits perfectly with the rest of the pack.  Clarice has enjoyed all the recent holidays, which involved company and of course - presents!  She loves toys and will carry one in her mouth most of the day.  Clarice also loves children and will play very gentle with them.  She is completely housetrained.  Clarice will go into her crate, but would rather just hang out with her foster siblings.

While Clarice is still going through chemo, nothing slows her down.  She goes weekly and has not shown any side effects.  Every week, we get ice cream when she is finished.  Clarice really looks forward to that!  She travels great in the car and loves to go for walks.

Clarice is a very easygoing girl.  She is always happy and is living her life like no other.  While her future is still unclear with her treatments, please don't overlook her.  Clarice is a great dog and deserves a family of her own.  If you are not ready to adopt, but want to support Clarice - please consider sponsoring her to help with her vet bills.  AABR does not turn a dog away just because of their age or health.  Please keep checking back for more updates on this sweet girl!

11/12/15

Clarice just started her chemo treatments to fight the lymphoma.  Don't let her sad, puppy dog eyes fool you!  She is one of the happiest girls around, but she knows how to get sympathy at the vet.  Thank you to everyone who has supported Clarice.  She is very playful and feeling great!  We will continue to keep you updated with her progress.

11/01/15

Clarice has arrived at her foster home in Maryland.  She is settling in great and quickly learning the house rules.  Clarice is living with both male and female boxers and having no issues.  So far, I can tell you that she is a love bug and she wants to be wherever I am.  Clarice has learned to sit and is working on giving paw.  She loves to go for walks and she rides great in the car.  Clarice also enjoys playing with toys and chasing squeaky balls.

Clarice went to visit our vet over the weekend to get some bloodwork done.  She was a hit and  everybody there loved her!  Clarice greeted every new person with a kiss.  We will be following up next week to find out what kind of treatment would be best for her.  For right now, Clarice is a very happy girl who is living life to the fullest.

If you are interested in sponsoring Clarice to help with her upcoming medical care, please put her name in the subject line.  Thank you for your interest in this wonderful girl!

10/28/15

Clarice will be transported to her new foster home tomorrow.  While in her temporary foster home, a biopsy was completed of her swollen lymph nodes.  The biopsy revealed a diagnosis of Lymphoma.   Once Clarice arrives in Maryland, she will be seeing our rescue vet to determine the best treatment plan.  Please consider donating towards her care so we can help Clarice obtain the best quality of life for as long as possible!  We will update her page with new pictures and more information soon!

10/20/15 -

Clarice was found as a stray in rough condition and she is quite skinny.  She appears to have recently weaned a litter of puppies.  Clarice is in a temporary foster home until she can be transported into rescue and they report she is great with children and other dogs.  Clarice is a very happy and sweet girl.  She is being evaluated tomorrow at the vet and we will post more information soon!  Clarice will need a foster home once she arrives in Maryland.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 3 months to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Not every home is the right match for a boxer, and matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us at your home visit of other dogs you are interested...  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
