Ziggy continues to do well in his foster home.  He is such a sweet boy.  Ziggy loves his furry foster brothers and sisters.  A 15 lb Papillon was a recent guest to his foster home and Ziggy loved him too!  Ziggy will run and play outside for hours with the other dogs.  He also enjoys going for car rides.  Ziggy likes to take his time coming down the stairs, but he is able to make it by himself.  His minor disc issue just adds to his character and charm!

Ziggy is doing great in his foster home!  He loves playing with the other dogs.  Ziggy does well with kids and is just a happy, all around guy.  He was just neutered and is now up to date on all vet care.  Ziggy is crate trained and housebroken.  He sleeps in a dog bed at night and has been a wonderful houseguest.  Ziggy is a sweet boy that deserves a wonderful home!

1/10/16

Ziggy's MRI showed no abnormality in his brain.  He is a happy, healthy young boy.  The only thing that was a concern is a slight abnormality in one disc, so that may be what is causing his occasional wobbles.  Ziggy has been neutered and he just arrived at his new foster home.  He is doing great with the other dogs.  We will post a new update once his foster dad gets to know him better.

1/03/16

Ziggy has done well with other dogs and children.  He would benefit from having somebody home for the majority of the day.  Ziggy has now been cleared from his quarantine and has an appointment scheduled tomorrow morning for his MRI.  He will then be arriving at his new foster home.  We will share the results as soon as we know more.

12/29/15 -

Meet Ziggy – a three year old boxer who was surrendered to a local shelter.  He is reported to do well with children and dogs.  Ziggy has already been in multiple homes.  He is having difficulties with his gait and will be evaluated by the neurologist on January 4th at UPenn.  Until his evaluation, Ziggy would need placed in a home without other dogs or children in case there is an infectious disease that is causing his motor issues.  We suspect his issues are related to either a spinal injury/degeneration or something neurological, but need to be cautious until he is cleared by the specialist.  Ziggy has a gorgeous deep chestnut coat and a great face!  We will update Ziggy’s page once we receive more information from his vet appointment.  Please consider donating to help with Ziggy’s care!

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 3 months to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Not every home is the right match for a boxer, and matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us at your home visit of other dogs you are interested...  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
