Chester is settling in very well and is now comfortable with his foster home, the other dogs, and all the sights and sounds of the city.  Chester is getting the hang of housetraining and will let you know when he has to go outside.  He is super playful and silly - Chester makes me laugh countless times each day!  He stays in his crate during the work day without any problems.  Chester loves to play, but also craves attention - he always wants to be sitting on you or with you (or on one of the other dogs!).

Chester is your typical boxer puppy and is very exuberant.  His forever home should have at least one dog who can match his energy level and play style, or at least a dog that is tolerant of his boisterous puppy ways.  He has the sweetest face and all he really wants is to be close to you.

Chester will get to spend some time with us at the beach, so we will see how he does with the sand and the water!  I am sure he is going to have a lot of fun.

Chester has been in his foster home for almost two weeks now and he is doing great!  Chester is a very happy boy and has fit in seamlessly with the other two dogs.  He loves to play with them and he also enjoys running, playing fetch, and chewing on toys.  Chester shares well with the other dogs and is generally submissive.  He has the perfect full body wiggle and Chester always wants to be near you or snuggling, either with his humans or the other dogs.

Chester's forever home should be prepared and willing to accept what goes along with a puppy this age.  He is still working on housetraining and will also exhibit some other puppy habits such as stealing shoes and chewing on things.  Chester is crated during the work day.  He can be mouthy and does jump up on people.  Chester is just displaying typical puppy behavior and he will need a home committed to working with his obedience and training.

Chester is an absolute sweetheart and is very smart.  This fun loving boy should definitely have another dog sibling in his new home.  He has the sweetest face and most unique amber eyes.  If you are interested in adding Chester, apply today!

Chester has arrived at his new foster home and is settling in well.  Chester gets along great with both of his foster siblings, male and female.  He loves playing with them and also enjoys snuggling with both the other dogs and his foster parents.  So far, he has been a pretty easygoing boy.  Chester would do best in a home with at least one other dog.  We will update his page once his foster family gets to know him better.

3/31/16 -

Chester and Rocco were brought into the shelter by somebody who witnessed their owners shoving them out of their truck.  They are estimated to be around 8 months of age.  Chester is shy and seems to rely on his brother, Rocco.  They were both tested in play group with several other dogs at the shelter and did great!  Both boys will be neutered soon and transported to rescue.  We would love to find a foster home for them together, but will also consider separating them into separate foster or forever homes that have another resident dog.

Message for "Give a Dog a Name"

In memory of our beloved boxer named Chester.  He was such a special soul and we want to honor him by giving another dog his name.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 3 months to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Not every home is the right match for a boxer, and matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us at your home visit of other dogs you are interested...  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
