Layla did wonderful with her
surgery and is happy to be back at her foster home. Her nub was
wagging really fast when she came in the door from the vet's office.
Layla is resting comfortably and her eye is healing well. She was also
spayed at that time. Layla will have her stitches removed in two
weeks.

Layla has made a lot of progress in her foster home. She is starting
to wiggle her nub more and is now interested in playing. It is so nice
to see her happy.
Layla visited the ophthalmologist on Friday and it was determined that she
has chronic glaucoma in her left eye. The eye is enlarged and
irreversibly blind. The recommendation is to remove Layla's eye, which
is scheduled for this week.
If you are interested in sponsoring Layla, please consider contributing for
her upcoming surgery. She will also be spayed at that time. This
sweet girl is going to be a perfect addition for a family looking for an
easygoing boxer who just wants hugs and kisses!

Layla is settling in well at
her temporary foster home. She seems to be feeling better and is much
happier now. Layla is still very scared at times, but we notice her
coming out of her shell with each day. She has no idea what to do with
toys yet. Layla loves laying on the couch and she is enjoying being
part of a family. Her appointment with the ophthalmologist is on April
1st.

Layla was found as a stray in a rural area in Virginia and it took them
over a month to finally capture her. She is very thin, has a swollen
ankle, and a scar on her rear leg. Layla visited the vet at the
shelter and had an X-ray taken of her ankle. The vet believes she was
hit by a car at some point in her past, as she had broken bones that have
since healed. Layla is reported to be a very sweet dog who is pretty
scared in the shelter environment. She was tested with other dogs and
was quite calm around them.
In order to get her out of the shelter as soon as possible, one of our
volunteers offered Layla a temporary foster home. She arrived there
this evening and introductions went really well with the two other boxers.
She is a very petite girl who will need to gain some weight. We will
be getting Layla an appointment soon with an ophthalmologist to have her eye
examined. If you are able to foster this gentle girl, apply today to
help Layla! She has not been well taken care of in her past, but we
will do everything possible to make sure she has a wonderful life from this
point forward. |
