It was with heavy hearts that we had to say goodbye to
Hooch on 6/20/09. It seems hard to believe that seven years have
passed since the "Boxer Boys" Slugger & Hooch became members of the Barry
family. Despite severe arthritis of the spine, Hooch managed to keep
up quite well with our "terrorist" young boxer Mollie. They would get
quite a chase game going with their tugging rope. Slugger remained the
quiet observer, never being one for "doggie" games.
Hooch was the "watch for " pup. He would sit at the corner of the deck
and watch the road for the car of the member of the family that was not
home yet. He did that every day. I still find myself listening for those
big feet. It was impossible not to recognize that trot - you could always
hear him coming and he couldn't sneak up on you. He was the most mild
mannered dog.
On June 20th, Hooch had a stroke. The time had come to say farewell to
our beloved Hooch. We sat and held him as he drifted off to his final
sleep.
Hooch would have been 11 this July 19th. Slugger was 12 on Jun 4th.
We all miss him so very much. He will never be forgotten.
Thank you for sending these great guys to us.
Pat Barry
