02/19/05 - Great News!
Taz is doing great and in need of a home that will continue
his training that we have started thanks to a generous volunteer that is
paying for him to attend in-depth training in a board and train center using
positive motivation methods.
Taz is a fantastic student and has spent the last 3 weeks
learning to be a better dog with some impressive manners. The training
facility owner is so impressed with our rescue program that he is offering
one year of training for $100 to assure Taz of a successful adoption.
We are looking for a home with commitment to the breed we
love. We cannot thank our donor and the owner of the center enough. They
truly helped us get him on the right path.
2/12/05 Progress Report
I stopped at the training facility today to check up on Taz.
Dave said that he's doing great. He's a wonderful dog... a typical bouncy
boxer boy. He said he pays no attention to the other dogs, and has become
very attached to his wife.
All in all he's very pleased with him and said he would
have absolutely no problem adopting him out. Hooray for Taz, he's a good
boy. I told Dave I had no trouble with him at the kennel. He did get a
bit rowdy with the other penned dogs, but would always sit when he was told
to while I fixed his food, and very willingly went back into his pen to
eat. He's a great dog full of typical boxer energy.

Taz is in foster with 2 other boxers and is doing great.
He knows many commands and is a super dog. His foster mom writes:
"What a funny dog!
We picked up Taz tonight. He is doing great with both our male Boxer and
our female Boxer (he's a bit afraid of my girl, as she is very Alpha!). He
knows commands to sit, shake, lay and who knows what else. I gave him his
heartworm pill... didn't want to eat it so I opened his mouth and made him
swallow it. He doesn’t mind you touching his mouth or taking food from him
and he sits really nice for a biscuit and takes it ever so gentle.
He wants to play and seems VERY happy to be in a house. We tossed him in
the bath tub because he was sooo dirty... he loved the bath. I put his
AABR and Rabies tags on his collar and gave him a dose of my own Frontline.
We have no need to crate him and I suspect he will be one more in my
bed... looks like my boyfriend gets the couch. I do suspect he would be a
food stealer if he got the chance.... he's scouting the countertops already!
This dog is GOOD TO GO!!
I think if one of our new fosters would like to try him out... he would
be an easy dog. Then we could foster another one - I have about one more
month at home full time. I took 30 pictures but got only about the 4 good
ones I have attached... he is an action dog!! I will try and get prettier
pictures at the park tomorrow."

Here's a new picture of Taz, or as I affectionately call him,
"The White Tornado." This boy just doesn't want to hold still for a
picture.
He's a very good boy, and listens very well. When I let him out of the
kennel area to watch me make his breakfast, he sits on command. When he
goes back in, he also sits and waits for his bowl to be set in front of him.
Then, stand back, cause he's hungry. He's very thin, but I can see that
the places between his ribs are starting to fill in. That's what I do
best, besides loving them to pieces, fattening them up.

Taz
Poor Taz. He has been in the Manhattan shelter for maybe a
month or so. First he had to stay for their required amount of time. Then
another boxer rescue organization called and asked for him. The shelter told
them to come get him. They never came. They called once and said they are
still coming but were having problems getting a place for him BUT they would
be there. THEY NEVER CAME. The shelter called and they never even returned
the phone call.
The shelter manager called me and Taz was out the very next day. This
shelter does the best job they can BUT it is a very stressful place for a
Boxer. Taz is now safe and looking for a quite place to destress. Could
this be at your home?
