08/04/06 - In Foster once again... Yeah!

07/22/06 -

Shelby is back at the kennel.  Her foster family could not continue to foster her so we had not choice but to but this little lady in a kennel.

Shelby is a great gal who would needs very little except love.  She is well mannered and ready to fit right in to a home looking for a mellow, laid back kind of girl.

01/25/06 -

Shelby is doing great here and she gets along with my dogs just fine. She's wondering why no one has called on her to adopt her yet.  She said it's like being picked last in gym class.  I told her that her special family hasn't found her yet.... are you her special family?

Shelby is a very good and well trained girl.  All she needs is love, and she will give you unconditional love right back.

12/03/05 -

Shelby is doing great.  She is a well behaved dog, I can't believe anyone would dump her, she is awesome and just wants to be loved.

11/11/05 -

I have had Shelby for a few weeks, and I can say she is an awesome dog.   She is house trained, crate trained, and leash trained.... just add food and water and give her some love and bam you have an instant dog.  This dog needs no training, she is a move in condition kind of dog.  She is good with older dogs or laid back dogs.  Younger dogs that have a lot of energy, will not mix well with Shelby.  She is at an age, where she is very mellow, and she can't be bothered with all that running, jumping, and playing.

Shelby loves to lay at your feet, and at times for no reason will get up and put her front paws on your lap and move in close to give you a hug.  Shelby also talks, it is the funniest thing.  If you are not getting her food fast enough or if you are lovin on another dog, she will sit there and talk to you.  Shelby is also very quiet, I have yet to hear her bark.

Shelby will make a great companion dog.  She is the coolest dog ever.  Please adopt her, you will not be disappointed.

Shelby has been in a foster home for a while and we will update her soon.

10/01/05 -

Just wanted to send some cute pictures of Queen Shelby.  She got to go for a walk, and was loving some special time spent with our volunteer, Lisa.   It's very sad for these senior boxers to be replaced by younger dogs in a home they've been loyal to for all these years.

Shelby is still here with us at the kennel.  She's real friendly to us now, not shaking and nervous anymore.

Senior's should be in comfortable homes, not kennels.

Shelby would be perfect for someone who needs a friend and companion.  Someone who will shower her with love and attention.

She's a real cutie. Seniors REALLY ARE THE BEST!!!!

9/3/05

Poor Shelby, she had to be taken out of her foster home.  She and the other dog did not get along
Shelby is in my kennel now, and really frightened.  I went out to meet her and take care of her and she just laid on her bed shaking all over.    Hopefully, soon she will quiet down and not be so frightened.   She's really a sweet girl.

Shelby was really well cared for, looks good...coat nice and shiny.   I hope she finds a loving home soon. It would be so sad if she spends a lot of time in the kennel because people want a younger dog. Seniors are GREAT and easy to care for!!!!

8/26/05 -

Just wanted to update you on Shelby.  She is such a sweetheart Red Hat girl!!!!  She is settling in slowly.  She loves to go for walks and car rides.  She actually tries to get into any cars that she passes by.  She is doing much better on the leash.  She sleeps in her crate and goes there when she needs alone time.  She is full of tail wags and kisses for me.  She appears to be trained when going out of the door and at mealtime.  She will also sit by the door
while I hook her leash on before we go walking.  She follows me around the house all the time and loves to be brushed and petted.

She is scared of new people and new dogs.  She will try to get somewhere where she can hide if any new people come to the house or stop to speak to her when we are walking.  This will get better with time.

All she wants is a home where she will be loved and cared for.  I will be sending you some pictures shortly.

06/18/05 - Shelby

This poor old girl was dumped at a PA shelter after the family bought a new puppy. She is a noble old lady that has a lot of spunk in her. She deserves to hang out with her family not die in a shelter because she is older now. Its so sad seeing this picture and knowing the shelter is begging us to take her and we have no room anywhere. Please help us at this tough time when fosters are going on vacations and kennels are full. Please help Shelby spend her golden years in a great home. Will you be her hero?

Shelby's transport volunteer (Tom Jordan) wrote

Shelby is still very stressed but the Humane Society was able to perform more behavior testing as she started eating for them.  I took her for a walk before loading her into her crate.  She found a broken storm sewer grate and tried to crawl down into it and hide.  I had to pull her out as she was halfway in before I figured out what she was doing.  I think she will be fine with some TLC.
