4/19/11 - MEMORIAL I adopted Snaps
from your wonderful organization on
December 23, 2005. Per
his post, he was left tied to the shelter door with $5 stuck in his
collar...thin and with kennel cough... with no history of what he had gone
through. I drove 3 hours to meet him and took him home that day. He and my
other dog, Logan, were
fast friends.
Snaps passed over the rainbow bridge on April 12th with my husband and I
at his side. He wouldn't eat his dinner and developed labored breathing, so
we took him straight to the
emergency vet. Our hearts are heavy and our tears are many, but we
have wonderful memories of our 5+ years with Snaps.
I met my husband shortly after I adopted Snaps and he loved him right
away. He loved to go for rides in the car, which was good as we traveled to
Canada frequently. Every day when I got home from work, I was greeted with
the the Snappy dance as he would spin in a circle and bounce. I had never
seen a dog do that before and it was so cute! The only day we were not
greeted this way was the day he passed.
He was a beautiful boy and brought so much happiness to our lives. I
would often look into his eyes and wonder what he had gone through before
being rescued. But he didn't seem to care about his past, only that he was
in a caring forever home. He was never hungry or cold again and had so much
love and attention.
When he walked he pranced and I thought he should have been named Prancer,
but I kept the name he was given at the rescue. I will miss him helping me
with the housework and snuggling with me to sleep. I could never leave the
room without him right behind me and I would always tell him "I hear the
pitter patter of little Snappy feet" and he would do the boxer wiggle. Such
a precious soul.
His passing has left a very large hole in our lives, and he will always
be in our hearts. I have attached some pictures of Snaps. I hope you will
post a memorial to our sweet boy on your AABR web page.

Snaps is doing really
well. He wasn't feeling very good when he first came to us, but now
he's a new man. He's very affectionate and sweet.
Loves to eat. He was so skinny, all hip ribs and hipbones were
visible. Now he's all filled out and beautiful. He seems to like
other dogs and is very playful. He passed the test at the vets with
her 4 cats. Now the best thing would be a new family who would love him and
give him a home for Christmas.

Snaps is a young male boxer that was tied to the lobby entrance door of my
local shelter. He was left with nothing but a $5 bill attached to his
leash. No name, no info to help us place him into a home. It's so sad that
these dogs are discarded so casually. We will take Snaps to the vet and
get him neutered and up to date on shots. Snaps is in need of a foster
home, please help. We will post more info as we learn it.
If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out an
online application first. Then e-mail the contacts below. Be sure to include your full name, city,
state, and area code in the subject line of your message.
