Surf's up! And the water is oh so fine! Sure wish my foster mom
would let me off the leash so I could catch one of those seagulls!
Life really is a beach-now that I got a taste of the good life! Yep,
life is good in foster care. I have a little sister, tasty home cooked
food, free range of the house, a comfy bed or couch to sleep on (at night I
like to snuggle into my foster mom's bed:), walks around the neighborhood,
romps on the beach...I could go on and on.
I feel great now that I got some good lovin. As far as I can
tell, I'm what you would call a easy going, one size fits all, move in ready
kind of guy. I don't make in the house, I know lots of commands, don't
chew, eat what's given me and I ride in the car like a real pro! I
think I might figure out how to swim once the water gets a little
warmer-didn't I hear that Boxers didn't like water? What do they
know?! I got to take a "bath" last week. It wasn't bad at all
and the ear cleaning felt surprisingly good. Us white boxers gotta
look and smell the part you know.
Anyone out there lookin for a slightly older and sweeter SWM?

Barren-LOVE this boy! So does his foster sister! He just gets
better with time! Barren is really opening up here at his foster home.
He plays with is sister and foster mom with hidden teeth (he keeps
them behind his lips), gentle barking and grumbling! He came along on
a home visit and played for an hour with a little pup less than a year
old-pretty good considering he is 7 - 8 himself! He has tons of energy
to spend given good incentive, but then crashes for a nap!
Sleeping, well he will sleep anywhere, but loves to snuggle up in
his human's bed for the night! While on a sweet note-Barren also loves
to give and receive kisses and hugs!
Barren now stays loose in the house with his foster sister (actually
he was only crated for 2 days) w/o being destructive or having an incident
at all! Yes, there are definite advantages to adopting older dogs!
And Barren already walks pretty well on a leash and knows lots of commands.
This is what is referred to as the golden years. No one should be
nervous about adopting an "senior" dog-they have lots of love and memories
to share with the right person. This is a special time in their lives
and they appreciate the time that good people share with them. I
always say that rescue dogs "just know."

Barren is down right awesome! He is a very well mannered boy and gets
along quite well with his foster sister.
Barren travels well in the car-I call him my steadfast co-pilot. We all
made a 4 hour trip upstate to my parents house for the holiday. On the
way home we had a short play date with another rescue boxer-Monty. They
all got along like old pals! It was like a white boxer party here on Long
Island.
Barren is housebroken, crate trained (though he would rather spend the day
on the couch), loves to sleep in bed, eats like no ones business, and is
just generally a great boy!

Barren
is our 7 year old neutered white male foster. He has been with us for just
a day and I can say that I absolutely love this man. He looks at me and my
heart melts. He is gentle and mild mannered. His coat is soft and shiny.
He is not food aggressive. He loves to lay on your lap and give you
kisses. Casanova! He likes to be tickled. His crazy spot is under his
left leg near his chest. With commands he looks for approval and loves the
praise. He gets spunky when you tell him good boy and give him a pat on his
chest.
We went to the park and he was great with 2 other boxers that we met on
our walk. He does pull on the leash, so we will be working on that. I guess
after being in the kennel for a while he needs to stretch his legs. He
prances like a show dog. He can sit and stay. We have not had any
accidents as of yet. He has a black circle around his left eye, like
everyone's favorite little rascal.
Now as a foster mom with about 20 or so foster dogs, I can say without a
doubt that the older dogs are my absolute favorite. You can imagine what
they were like as puppies, wild and crazy. Please, don't forget that we
are dealing with boxers, can you say peter pan? The middle-aged ones can
get a little crazy too, running around the yard, sprinting, cutting corners,
and jumping at the squirrels in the trees. They make me laugh. Lets not
forget the housetraining. All done. Finally, everyone's favorite 007, yes
Sean Connery now and then. Jimmy Buffet attracts fans from all ages. So in
your heart of hearts, give this man a new lease on life in margharitaville
and a happy holiday filled with pina coladas.

Poor Barren was an owner surrender because his owner could not take
care of him anymore. The owner has major medical issues. Barren is
very scared and needs someone to reassure him life is going to be OK.
Barren went from the only home he has ever known to a kennel where he is
being boarded. He is not happy there and really needs to get into a loving
foster home. His whole world has been turned upside down. Please someone
help us help Barren. AABR is getting so many boxers dumped at kill shelters
that we can not keep up. We need your help now more than ever!! Please
help us!
