Barkley is a wonderful little guy. He is very playful. He gets along with
my other three boxers. He loves to play with my three kids and my husband.
Barkley is a very good eater. He loves to go for long walks. He just
learned to bark. I can't say enough about this little guy. With the right
home and a family he would be the best friend any family could want. If you
think he would be a great match for your family let us know. He would love
to make you happy.
4/22/06 - now in foster
It's been
nearly two weeks that we have had Barkley in our care, and I have to say he
is such a sweet and loving pup. Apparently his previous owners didn't think
that food was vital to his health and well-being and stated that he has an
"eating disorder". The only "eating disorder" we can see is finding a food
he doesn't like. He has a tremendous and very healthy appetite! Initially,
he would snap treats from your hand, however, he now gently takes the treat
(apparently now knowing there's more coming).
When taken out to do his business, he does so immediately and wants to go
right back in the house. He loves the comfort and security of a home.
We have found him to be loving and playful with everyone, however, he
seems to favor the man of the house (a man's dog). It must be the little
tidbits of english muffin my husband gives him in the morning. He lets you
know when he's ready for more by stomping his feet and snorting (too funny).
Barkley is happy, healthy and full of life and energy. He has gained a
little weight during the past two weeks, and, with the addition of much
more needed weight, he will turn out to be quite a handsome boy!

- Barkley
This is Barkley! He was dumped off at a shelter because his owners no
longer wanted him. Barkley has lived in a home with children over the age
of 8 and a cat! He is housebroken and neutered and ready to go! He gets
along fine with other dogs and would love to romp and play for the first
time in his short life. He has only been tied outside in a yard at his
old home. We at AABR believe NO dog should be tied out and left. These
dogs are members of the family and MUST be treated that way. If you would
like to make Barkely a part of your family please tell AABR you will give
him the home he deserves for good! He is to never see the inside of a
shelter again!
If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out an
online application first. Then e-mail the contacts below. Be sure to include your full name, city,
state, and area code in the subject line of your message.
