Dear Kim,
I can't even begin to tell you how
your letter touched my heart. I knew how hard letting Sadie go was for
you, I think about it quite a bit. She is a dear sweet girl. What you, and
countless others do, is some of the most important work one could take on.
It is probably thankless for the most part -from humans, that is. But from
the ones who really count, who can't speak for themselves, you probably
get the warmest thank you any one could possibly receive. To me, that
would be worth it's weight in gold! I have learned so much from my
critters in the past few years and feel very blessed to have them in my
life. They are all unique and all have forged a special place in my heart.
I am humbled that you felt we were the
right family for Sadie. We will do everything in our power to not let her
down, she deserves so much.
A very heartfelt thanks to you for your
confidence in us as Sadie's new forever family.
Fondly,
Terri B & family

People often ask those of us that care for dogs on a transient basis " how
can you let them go?" My answer is always that when we know the home is
right, it isn't so hard to do. Today I faced one of those harder cases as I
let my constant companion of the past 3 months go off to her new life.
Having made her adopting family the Brown's, (who had already driven three
hours) endure the bitter cold for three hours while we walked, talked and
introduced Sadie to their two dogs, I was finally satisfied that she was
ready to leave me. I couldn't find one reason why they shouldn't take her
home to share their life other than that selfishly, I wanted her for myself.
They are just the family that Sadie was waiting for and I believe that they
have the dedication to give Sadie everything that she needs.
Sadie has two new companions, one of whom is Buckey; a rescue boy from
AB rescue placed with them two years ago; another dog with a grim future
until rescue stepped in.
For those reading this and wondering why I'm rambling; my point is this,
particularly for those in rescue who feel overwhelmed and depleted:
Take in, and rejoice in these moments when a dog's life turns around; be
proud of what you all do and above all, let these positive moments carry you
through the tough days in rescue; today Sadie and Buckey both reminded me of
how important this is.

Sadie
continues to excel at being a great member of our pack and a superb
ambassador for her breed type. She is always ready for fun and enjoys every
aspect of her life, a bundle of pure agile muscle and love. If you enjoy the
kind of life that involves sharing all that you do with a canine buddy with
huge personality, Sadie is such a dog; there is nothing that she wouldn't
do for you. She is big on cuddling close and gazing at you with those big
soft eyes; and her loyalty to her humans could lead her to believe that she
needs to be protecting them rather than them protecting her. This is typical
of the bully breeds and there is a life long responsibility in being the
pack leader and guardian to these wonderful dogs so they can just relax and
enjoy life, just as Sadie does.
I will never forget this special little girl, she has touched many hearts
since she was found wandering the city streets as a stray, having had
puppies. Everyone who has met her always asks how she's doing and she has a
huge fan club of followers - but I will always be her number one fan. Keep
watching her page for more Sadie updates and photos.

Sadie came to stay with us for a little training as her last family found
her exuberant and too much to cope with; in fact I have found Sadie to be
one of the most lovable and fun dogs that I have ever worked with.
Sadie is a girl who is all about having fun and enjoying life with her
people! She is super smart, loyal and faithful and as such needs to know who
her pack leader is; this way Sadie can just enjoy life without
responsibility. Her social skills are second to none and she has recently
attended doggie day care where she had 60 canine buddies and was a model
student!
Sadie is a wonderful calming influence on other dogs and does not
ruffle feathers, she fitted right into my pack without any of my guys even
raising an eyebrow. With just a little guidance this girl is simply
the best companion that any dog lover could dream of. She is crate and house
trained and rides in the car very nicely, settling down to snooze as soon as
the journey begins. As a dog behavior consultant, I have taken Sadie to work
with me on several occasions as she is such a good influence on dogs lacking
social skills.
If you are a calm confident person; a good authority figure who can teach
a dog respect first and share love second then Sadie could be your dog
of a lifetime - hurry or I may not be able to let her go!
