Sadly, the kennel has been home to Dempsey for a year now and he turned 5 years old there. A few people have been interested in Dempsey until they find out he's deaf. This poor guy is misunderstood. Imagine the world through his eyes with body language as your only means of communication. It takes Dempsey a little extra time to figure out the intentions of an approaching person. He needs a patient, calm, consistent home, where he can build trust and a relationship. Once you earn Dempsey's love and trust, he's your best friend. He has built a relationship with a caretaker at the kennel from whom he enjoys back rubs and follows signed commands. He has a lot of love to give to the right home and he needs to get to his forever home soon. Dempsey does well with other dogs. He gets to play regularly at the kennel with other dogs and really enjoys it. He is looking for a committed person or couple to share his life with and open the world back up to him. Update - Dempsey is still looking for a foster or forever home. He is very scared at the kennel and we would love to get him back in a home environment. Dempsey needs to be in a home that has a consistent routine. He would do best in a low activity home with no children because he is easily startled.

Dempsey knows sign language for all of his basic obedience commands. He loves to play with other dogs and is usually in the submissive role. 9/24/08 - Dempsey

Dempsey is a four year old deaf boy looking for a new home. He knows the hand signs for sit, stay, lay, come, and good-boy. Dempsey needs a boxer savvy owner to provide additional training and socialization. He is very hesitant when first meeting new people, but is a really sweet boy once he gets to know you. Dempsey does well with other dogs and would benefit from another dog that could be his ears. Since he is deaf, we are also looking for a home with a secure, fenced yard. Dempsey is housetrained and crate trained. If you can commit time and training for this boy, apply today to foster or adopt Dempsey!

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.  

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.  

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.
