2/23/09 Kisses was just at PetSmart
this past weekend for National Adoption Day. I wasn't sure how she would do
with so many people. But to my surprise she did real well. In fact, I
previously reported she should go to a home with children over 10 years old
but I'm lifting that restriction. After seeing her at Petsmart with all ages
of kids I saw how much she loves them. She never attempted to jump on them,
in fact, she doesn't jump on anyone. Kisses does make it known if she
doesn't like another dog. Like that handsome boxer sitting next to us that
everyone else loved. I think she was just jealous because he was getting all
the attention. However, with stern NO she was fine. I do think she is a
bossy female {and they usually are}, who needs to go to a home with another
laid back dog who will let her be in charge. She does well with my two
males, one Boxer, one Frenchie. My Boxer is laid back and lets her have her
way. My little Frenchie lets her know he's in charge and she respects that
too. So she's adaptable as long as the human let's her know their in charge.
Kisses loves to be active. So if there is someone in your family who would
take her for a run or long walk that would make her happy. She needs a
special person or family to include her in their daily plans. I assure you
she will pay you back with loyalty, as she has with me. Besides, she's cute
too! Kisses is a easy keeper. She thrives on activity and lots of love. She
is also very affectionate and quite smart. She understands basic commands,
sit, stay, and go get the toy, or the word back when she gets in front of me
at the door. I can tell her to get in the crate now with no problem when I
leave. She has free run when I'm here and likes to sneak in bed with me
after I fall asleep. She doesn't realize I know she's sneaking. Please give
this well behaved adult girl a loving home.

Update -Kisses is more
relaxed these days...you know the laid back feeling that only comes when the
kids finally move out! Yes, our foster Rosie has found her 4-ever home, and
we have watched Kisses go from a mom mode to " Let's party".
She is a high energy dog and loves to run around with my male boxer. In
the house she crouches down and darts and weaves. Kisses is a dominant girl
and always gets the toy. My male is easy going so he doesn't mind. She needs
some work on going for walks because she is so excited and wants to be
ahead. We are working on it and I can see she restrains herself and is
obedient. Kisses is very food motivated and will automatically sit and wave
her paw. She will do anything for a snack, and wants to please. She seems
very smart at figuring out what you expect of her.
She's a people dog and enjoys being next to me as much as possible.
Kisses loves to be loved and will return your affection with gentle kisses
and snuggling. During the day she sleeps with my other two dogs on their
bed, but at night she likes to sleep in bed with me. She will go into a
crate with some coaxing but would rather not. She doesn't want to miss
anything, and would much rather follow me around all day. She is a good
watch dog and let's me know when she hears any sound. She plays with my
husband and son and initiates play with everyone that comes over.
Kisses has a great personality and is waiting for an active, loving
family. Kids are great too, but with her high energy I suggest 10 yrs. and
over. She's definitely not a couch potato so exercise is a must. Do you have
room in your life and in your heart for this special girl?

Kisses and Rosie are mother and daughter.
Both girls were surrendered to AABR when their owner lost their home.
They previously lived with a young child. Kisses, the mom, is a six year
old white female. She is housebroken and knows her basic commands. Kisses is
spayed and up to date on all vet care. She just went into a foster home with
Rosie and they are both doing very well with the other two dogs in the home.
We will update her page once we know more about her. Thank you for your
interest in Kisses! |
