Update -Blackie has been in his foster home for 2 weeks now and is doing great. He is such a mild mannered sweet natured boy and gets along great with our 2 Boxer boys ages 4 and 3. Our younger male Brady did go at him a little the 1st day and it didn't faze him a bit. Since then they've been best buds with Brady now initiating play when they run in the backyard together.

At first Blackie was unsure and didn't want to go for rides in the car and once in seemed a little sad. Once he got home and realized where he was he seemed relieved to be home and ran right in the house.

Blackie is in the prime of his like and past the adolescent mischief stage. We've had no issues with him chewing or bad behavior and he eats just fine with our boys and is totally housebroken. He has his favorite comforter and lays on it all day and sleeps on it at night. He hasn't even tried to get on the furniture even though we let our boys on. Now that he feels comfortable here he is your typical Boxer full of love and life. He will be here waiting for the right family to take him in and give him what he deserves.

Intake Reason - Owner surrender to shelter

Blackie is a 7 year old fawn male who is waiting at the kennel for his foster or forever home. He is reported to be housebroken and crate trained. Blackie is great with kids and other dogs. Please offer to foster or adopt this easygoing boy so he doesn't have to stay at the kennel very long.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.  

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.  

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.
