7/9/10 - MEMORIAL

It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our sweet Lily Bean, known as Melrose when we adopted her.  What can I say about a dog I would have rather known for a minute, than to have gone a lifetime without meeting.  She was the most loving, loyal and gentle girl despite the circumstances that brought her into a rescue agency.  When we picked her up from her foster parents home, she jumped into the car without hesitation and settled in for the long ride back to Vermont.  Once home, she settled into her new routine without any problems at all.  In fact, she was the one waking us up for breakfast at 5 o'clock in the morning on our days off!  She was always looking out the window when we left for work in the morning and was the first one to be at the door when returning at night.  Her tail may not have been very long but she would get her entire body wiggling in excitement.  Her older brother, Leo, loves swimming and Lily would give it her best effort though I'm not sure she quite mastered that skill-even with the life jacket.  She had a heart of gold and would do whatever we asked of her.  Her time with us was only a little longer than a year, but she got to have a lifetime of fun doing everything from hiking and mountain biking to swimming, never once giving up.  She was truly a joy to have and touched the lives of all around her.  We are very thankful for the chance to provide a loving home for such a wonderful dog.  Thank you for your part in making that happen.

Many thanks,
Shelagh, AJ and Leo

Melrose is a complete sweetheart. She is a very dainty girl who loves attention. She is housebroken and kennel trained. Melrose was very good when I gave her a bath and as it turned out, she is very white with super soft fur. She is missing her Boxer nub (tail) due to what appears to be an accident or a bad dock job. Her face is extremely pretty and she has a slight head tilt due to an ear infection she had when she was found. The vet tested her by clapping and snapping behind her head and believes that she is deaf although she seems to be hearing some very high pitched sounds. She knows the commands for sit, paw and down using hand signals. We stomp on the tile floor to get her attention which works very well if she’s not looking at you (which is rare). Melrose walks very well on a leash with a harness. She watches everything you do and will follow you everywhere inside the house. Melrose gets along with our big Boxer boy but does not seem interested in playing with him or his toys, preferring instead to lounge around on the couch. If you are interested in meeting Melrose for adoption, submit an application for her today!

01/15/09 - Melrose

Melrose is a white female boxer estimated to be around 4-5 yrs of age. She is reported to be as sweet as can be. Melrose was found as a stray. She knows sit, down, paw , sit pretty, and roll over. Melrose passed all the temperament tests at the shelter with flying colors. She met a cat and two dogs - Melrose was not fazed by either. She will be going to a foster home and we will update her page once we learn more about her. Melrose is spayed and up to date all vet care. Apply today for this beautiful girl!

Prior to adoption:

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.

Adoptions Fee: Please see our adoption info by clicking on the link at the top of this page.
