1/8/10 Well the holidays came and went
with no interested homes in me...but that is ok. I still wait patiently for
my very own forever home--I know they are out there! I just wanted to let
you know that my foster mom says I am the most obedient dog she has ever
fostered over the past 5 years! I am also the snuggliest. If I could snuggle
on the couch with you 24/7, I would. I am the very best dog to keep you warm
at night. The resident cat and I are
best friends too, and it makes my foster mom laugh. We chase each
other around. The cat hides in the corner, jumps out when I'm walking by,
bops me on the head, and then takes off running all the time. It is like
watching a classic comedy team. I think he is pretty cool for a cat ;) and
lots of fun.

Dear Santa,
My name is Sonny and I have been a very good boy this year. I am very
obedient and my only goal in life is to make my owner proud. My foster mom
tells me that she thinks I am the best, and any family lucky enough to have
me in their life will think I am the best too. I bond so quickly to my
family. I am the definition of man’s best friend – loyal, trustworthy,
patient, fun, and a shoulder to cry on when times are tough. I love to
snuggle by the fire with my foster mom and watch tv. I dream of having a
place to stay just like this, but where I won’t ever have to say goodbye
again. I just love family and want a permanent one of my very own this year.
Won’t you please help me with that Santa? If you check your list twice, you
will see that I have been nothing but a good boy. Thanks Santa, I believe my
family is out there, please tell them I am waiting for them to take me home.
Love, Sonny
PS: I am currently living with a real cool
kitties and a very nice boy dog. I like them both!!!! That means I
could go to a home with cats and other dogs if they're cool like these guys.
Just thought you'd like to know...

Hi, Sonny here!!! I know I am
not a boxer...but I can tell you (and plenty of people can verify) that I am
one awesome pooch! I have been with Adopt A
Boxer Rescue for awhile now, and the reason for me sticking around
has never been my fault. I was in a great home for 8 months, but due to a
break up in the family, I found myself out of a forever home once again. And
that is only because the partner that kept me had to leave for work 2 weeks
out of a month and had to kennel me during that time - that is way too long
for any animal to have to stay away from their family. I am great with
children!! I just love love love people. I am an all-around superb boy....
PLEASE DON'T JUDGE ME BY MY EXTERIOR! I am the
sweetest thing going. If you truly, truly, truly want to RESCUE an
animal in need, won't you please consider me? I keep getting looked over
because I am not a boxer, but how would you feel if you were only judged by
your exterior??? Please meet me and consider making me part of your family.
It has been a long time coming for me, and I await you patiently. I PROMISE
to make you happy and love you unconditionally...
Love and kisses, Sonny
10/4/09 - Update
Sonny
originally
came into AABR as an owner surrender with a Boxer female. They were in a
home where we felt Sonny's future would be bleak if he was left there and
the compassionate decision was made to help him too, even though he isn't a
Boxer. There was something about young Sonny that we knew was special and we
had to help him. Sonny is a typical happy go lucky young man who loves
everyone and he is handsome too! He's grown up with children of all ages and
other dogs, but like many dogs he finds kitties and other small fluffy
species lots of fun to chase, so no cats for him.
Sadly, he
came back to AABR in August due to a relationship break up in his forever
home, not so forever for poor Sonny. If you love the breed, you'll be sure
to fall in love with this gentle and big hearted guy. Sonny has been to
several pet expos recently and he has been very well behaved. Sonny
loves meeting the public and is a great ambassador for his breed.
This gorgeous boy is looking for a stable home where his people love to
walk, have fun, play ball and snuggle at the end of a fun day together.
He is looking for a home where he can feel secure for the rest of his life -
his forever home. Please apply today for Sonny!
08/18/09 - Sonny needs a hero!
Update
- Poor Sonny is coming back to rescue again due to a relationship break up
in his current home. This boy deserves a chance at a committed, forever
home. Sonny is great with children of all ages and he has been living with a
female dog. If you are interested in fostering or adopting Sonny, please
submit your application today!

Sonny is coming
back into rescue. Not his fault. The gate has been left open, and he has been getting out of the yard,
which is not good for Sonny.
Sonny lives with 2 other dogs, a male and female, and a cat. Sonny is
extremely well behaved and good with kids too. He is a 2yr old dog now. He
has a great temperament and is so loving.
He is very well behaved and completely housebroken. Apply today to adopt
this great boy! |

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure,
by clicking on the link at the top of this page,
then fill out an
online application.
Boxers and Applicants
are not matched on a first come, first served basis.
Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes
between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an
approved applicant, depending
on your personal circumstances and flexibility.
Matching Boxers suitable for placement
with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special
needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review
time and adoption time.
And yes, we
realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted
before you're approved. Should your first choices all ready
found their forever home, we want you to advise
us as to other dogs you are interested in at
Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com . Or let
us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.
That is what we are good at. And be happy for the
ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many
fantastic dogs waiting in their place.
Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful
Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a
Boxer.
We hope you feel that
the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
