2/23/09 Chico
has been nothing more than a pleasure to have as a foster dog. I have never
owned or fostered a dog before but Chico's story made me want to foster him!
It has been well worth it- a dog like Chico doesn’t deserve to be in a
kennel. We have had no problems with him, and are enjoying his company! He
is housebroken and crate trained, and will go in his crate and stay in his
crate without any problem. I leave the crate door open when I am home, and
he often goes in there on his own. He seems to be eager to please and has
been easy to train. He knows most of his basic commands including sit, stay,
(he literally stays until I tell him to get up!) leave it, down, shake, and
lay down (which I taught him!). He walks on a leash nicely now. He will sit
when I put his leash on and take it off, and walks (or runs if I want to
run) beside me without any effort on my part. He always greets everyone with
wiggles and sniffs. He is easy-going, well-mannered, low-maintenance,
friendly, and affectionate dog. He likes to be around people, be petted,
scratched, and played with. He loves attention but does not beg for it. I
give him attention when I want to give him attention (which is obviously a
lot!), but he will keep himself content if I am busy. He sits near me
chewing on his bone, playing with his toys, or laying on his pillow in the
room I am in. He makes me laugh because when he shakes his head, his whole
body wiggles, he poses every time I tell him to stay, and when he wants to
go for a walk, his whole body wiggles, even in a sitting position! If you
want a dog that will play with you when you want to play with him, pet him
when you want to pet him, and watch TV beside him while he snores away, then
Chico is your dog. He has been such a problem-free dog that deserves a
forever home. Whoever adopts him will be very lucky! He is a difficult dog
to give to someone else!

- Chico
Meet handsome and happy Chico! He is a very wiggly and
enthusiastic young boy who is need of basic obedience training. His
previous owners did not have time to train him, so he still acts like a
puppy. He is housebroken and crate trained. Chico takes treats very gently
from you hand. You can pet him all over and take toys and food from him
with no problem! Chico loves his toys and would love to play a game of
fetch. Chico however was never trained to walk on leash and gets way too
excited once that leash is on him. He mistakes it for play and wrestle
time! Because of his lack of obedience training, I would suggest a home
with older children only and a fenced in yard so he can burn off his
high energy. Chico lived with another dog and the kennel he staying at
presently says he listens very well to the "leave it" command when the cats
are around. This boy has so much potential! He is in need of an
immediate foster home, because the groomer that took him in cannot hold him
at her kennel. Please give this boy a chance. Did I mention that he is
just the cutest, wiggliest, happiest boxer boy? If you love the
breed--Chico is a prime example of what the breed is all about and you will
fall in love with him!

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure,
by clicking on the link at the top of this page,
then fill out an
online application.
Boxers and Applicants
are not matched on a first come, first served basis.
Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes
between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an
approved applicant, depending
on your personal circumstances and flexibility.
Matching Boxers suitable for placement
with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special
needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review
time and adoption time.
And yes, we
realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted
before you're approved. Should your first choices all ready
found their forever home, we want you to advise
us as to other dogs you are interested in at
Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com . Or let
us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.
That is what we are good at. And be happy for the
ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many
fantastic dogs waiting in their place.
Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful
Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a
Boxer.
We hope you feel that
the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
