Cashmere is now 2 years old. She had been in rescue far too long! We have just not found the perfect home for her yet. Cashmere has gotten lots of applications, but nothing that is the right fit! Cashmere has lots of energy to burn, so she can not go to a home without a 6 ft fence - as she can jump over a 4ft fence like a gazelle. We do not feel that an electric fence will work for her and tie outs are not an option. She needs her adoptive family to be strong leaders who set rules and boundaries. Cashmere is extremely smart and needs mental and physical stimulation to stay content. She is going to be a great running partner or maybe even agility! Cashmere has been around younger children, but we recommend older children because of her exuberance! She can not go to a home where there are other small pets or cats. She can be an only doggy child or have doggy siblings, but she will do best with a male who can keep up with her and help her burn her energy! Cashmere is a wonderful, loving girl who is still a very large puppy! She has made huge improvements - so much so that she is now not crated at all unless she chooses to get in it! She is crate trained and loves her crate, but definitely no longer needs it. She knows lots of commands and several hand signals, though she is not deaf.  If you think that you could be the right home for Cash, please don't hesitate to apply!

12/20/10

It will soon be a year and a half in rescue for Cashmere, and she is ready for her forever home. Cashmere was only 5 months old when she first joined AABR.  She will soon turn 2 years old.  Cashmere participates in training classes and has made a lot of progress in her foster home. Cashmere needs a home with a completely fenced yard due to her energy level.  This sweet girl deserves a chance.  Included are some Christmas pictures with Santa and with her antlers. Please make our Christmas wish come true for Cashmere and put your application in today to provide a forever home for her.

10/11/10

Included are two new photos from the Walk for Paws adoption event last weekend, where Cashmere met a lot of new people!  She will also be attending DogFest this Sunday.  Come meet her there at Fieldstone Animal Inn in Millersville, MD - she is still waiting for her forever home!

8/31/10

Cashmere "Cash" has been in foster care for 1 yr now. She is so different now from the unruly, unsocialized, little monster puppy (I say that lovingly!) that came through my front door! She has learned to play more appropriately. Because she is still a young boxer, Cashmere does occasionally need reminders. She has learned some much needed commands like sit, wait/stay, down, up, come, leave it, crate (she has no problem getting in her crate, treats only make her get in it faster lol..) we are learning over and under, and are still working on leash walking. Overall, Cashmere has come incredibly far. She will do well as an only dog or with an older male who can play rough with her - she loves that and is such a little tomboy! Because of her style of play, she should not be placed with cats or small animals. Cashmere does best with older children, ! so we recommend over 8 yrs old. She will also need a completely fence d yard. We do not feel that an electric fence will work for her. Cashmere is waiting for a dog savvy, active owner who will be her leader! She is becoming a super girl and just needs you to help with the finishing touches! Apply today to give Cashmere a forever home!

5/12/10

Cashmere has turned a year old now and is still waiting on her forever home! We participate in a walk and train class in Millersville, MD 2 times per month. She is doing very well and is getting the hang of it! The wonderful people at Fieldstone Animal Inn have graciously donated obedience classes for Cashmere with a local adoption! So, won't you give this girl a chance to show you how wonderful she is under that tom-boyish exterior! Oh and her new favorite thing to do is play with the hose! She doesn't like the bathtub much but definitely doesn't mind getting her feet wet! And no sprinkler either! Just you spraying the hose! Loves it! watch the video:

Cashmere is looking for an active home who can appreciate her drive and spirit; a high energy girl with tons of love to give that equals her passion for play, play, rough and rowdy play. Cashmere will do well in a home with another dog. She is not a dainty, delicate little girl; she is strong and muscular and needs a male dog that can hold his own with her energy and strength. She positively must have a fenced yard. She needs a family who will work with her in basic obedience classes. Cashmere would love an active outdoors family, walking, hiking, playing ball are all high on her list of “Things I Love in Life”. So, if you are an active family with dog experience, looking for a 4 legged family member who can keep up with your active lifestyle, Cashmere may be the perfect match for you. Apply today - Cashmere is waiting!

Cashmere LOVES the snow - she is having such a great time playing in it with her foster brothers and sister! She has even found that icicles are fun! She is a very happy, loving & active girl and can't wait to get back to daycare when the weather breaks! Cashmere will be turning 1yr old in her foster home soon! Although she loves her foster family, she is ready to head out and get started on her next great adventure in her very own forever home!

10/26/09

Cashmere had her doggie daycare evaluation yesterday and did GREAT! She is excited about going to play with new friends! Cashmere is progressing well and is learning new things everyday! She is super sweet and loves to cuddle on the couch! She knows sit, wait & come, but she knows the word "treat" best and knows where to go and sit to get one! We are currently learning leash walking and have been able to extend the length of our walk daily! She loves her foster brothers and sister!  Cashmere would really love a forever home of her own.  Apply today for this sweet young girl!

9/13/09 -

Cashmere is a smart spunky girl who has lots of energy! She has changed so much in the two weeks she has been with us in our foster home. Her adoptive parents will need to be strong leaders who will give her the direction she needs! Any new animal sibling should not be puppies or small animals as she is still learning appropriate play behavior. We are recommending children over 8 years old because she still plays very rough and could knock small children over.  Cashmere's ideal canine sibling would be an older male that can tolerate her rough play.  Cashmere rides well in the car, is crate trained, house trained and is overall a really great young lady who will flourish in the right environment.

My foster family was unable to keep me and sadly, I had to be taken to a kennel until I find another foster home or even better, a forever home. I would do best in a home without small dogs or cats, as my energy level and rough style of play may injure them accidentally. I would love to have an active playmate. You need to be prepared for my high energy - I definitely need a fenced yard to run in. I haven't been taught a lot of manners, so I'll need guidance and socialization from a strong leader. My foster mom said I was a great snuggler after a day of running and playing. I am crate trained, and I know to go to the door when I need out. A kennel is no place for a puppy - please apply today and offer to give me a chance in your home.

8/04/09 - Cashmere

This is Cashmere, a 5 month old female boxer mix who was surrendered to the city animal shelter when her owner could no longer afford her. Unfortunately, her owner did not leave any background information on her. She is very sweet and beyond adorable. We are looking for a home that is there often to work on her house training and with a secure fenced yard so this young girl can run and play. She would love to have a brother in the home. Cashmere is currently in foster with two other dogs and a cat. Her foster mom indicates that she is a great snuggler. She will update her page once she gets to know her better, as she has only been in rescue a short time. Apply today if you have the time and energy for a boxer puppy!

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
