3/24/10 - MEMORIAL
Today we made the difficult decision to say goodbye to our Jameson, or as we
called him - "Jimmy Joe."
My daughter and I sat on the floor holding him, talking to him, and
kissing him as he drifted off. For whatever reason, his previous
owners did not have the courage to face this. On one hand, I get so
angry knowing they just left him out in the cold in the middle of the night
at a shelter, which is inconceivable to me. Although it was not the
right thing to do, I know how they must have felt and if there was anyway I
could have avoided this myself, I would have. We have only had Jimmy
since December 18th. I have put a couple of my own dogs down in the
past, but it never gets easier. As each one passes, there is a hole
left in our hearts.
Jimmy was a gentle soul, who last week enjoyed laying in the grass
soaking up the sun. I never put a leash on him and I must admit he
didn't stay in the fenced yard much either - he always stayed around me.
When he was ready to come in, he would howl and he sounded like a moose.
My husband and I would laugh. He enjoyed eating and never missed a
meal. He loved his belly rubbed and would roll on his back and extend
a paw, right up until this morning.
Jimmy's last three months were not easy - he had to wear a diaper and he
just didn't have the spunk a boxer normally has. He definitely knew we
loved him. My husband and two children were kissing him and talking to
him like a baby all the time. We will miss our Jimmy terribly, and so
will our other dogs. My only peace about this is knowing he is no
longer in pain and there is no more suffering. Until we meet again.
R.I.P. - We love, you, Jimmy.

Jameson has been in his foster home since
December, and his foster mom has very positive things to say about him!
Jameson gets along great with the other dogs, large and small, and he is
very friendly with people.
He recently had to be scheduled for an appointment with a specialist, where
it was discovered that he has a large abdominal tumor, with a guarded
prognosis. Please sponsor Jameson today to help with his vet expenses.
Jameson's foster family is doing everything they can to make him comfortable
- he is a very special boy!

Jameson was found tied outside at the shelter. It is difficult to believe
that somebody could tie this sweet boy outside in the middle of a cold
night. He was very depressed in the shelter and only perked up when he
thought he was leaving. He seemed to do well with other dogs there. Jameson
was rescued today, and he was very excited to go on his transport. Jameson
traveled well in the car and he did wonderful with all the new people that
he met. Jameson will be neutered and brought up to date on all vet care. He
is in urgent need of a foster home so we don't have to move him back to a
kennel. Apply today to foster or adopt Jameson!

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure,
by clicking on the link at the top of this page,
then fill out an
online application.
Boxers and Applicants
are not matched on a first come, first served basis.
Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes
between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an
approved applicant, depending
on your personal circumstances and flexibility.
Matching Boxers suitable for placement
with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special
needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review
time and adoption time.
And yes, we
realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted
before you're approved. Should your first choices all ready
found their forever home, we want you to advise
us as to other dogs you are interested in at
Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com . Or let
us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.
That is what we are good at. And be happy for the
ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many
fantastic dogs waiting in their place.
Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful
Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a
Boxer.
We hope you feel that
the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
