6/25/10

We have had Bruce in our foster home since April first. Everything that was said about his personality by the previous foster family is true. He is a very sweet, friendly boy. He loves getting attention from our whole family, which includes adult and teenage children. Even the first night we had him, he climbed up onto our couch while we watched T.V. and snuggled up into our laps. He is well behaved around everybody who meets him and gets along well with other dogs on walks. We also have three cats and he is now used to having them around. I think that Bruce would do well in any home, with or without children and cats. He would do well with a passive, friendly dog that can keep up with his playful behavior. Apply today for this wonderful boy and offer Bruce a chance at a forever home.

3/5/10

Bruce has been with us just over a month now but he fits in as if he's been here for years. Then again, he acted that way within an hour of arriving - a very adaptable and happy boy! Bruce may be one of the easiest to please boxers I've ever met. He's always so HAPPY! He loves playing, he loves napping, he loves being indoors, he loves being outdoors, and he LOVES cuddling. Bruce insists he's a lap dog and will sit on you if allowed but also backs off nicely if you ask him for a little space. He's completely housebroken and learned to use the pet door within minutes. He lives with my alpha male boxer, senior female boxer and a female great dane and gets along with all of them. Did I mention he's always happy? Oh - and toys - he has discovered the wonderful world of dog toys (all three toyboxes full) and especially likes the ones that make noise. He wasn't too fond of the crate when he first got here but after a few days worth of realizing that I always come back, he now goes in without hesitation (especially with a treat). I have left him uncrated on occasion and he's done fine so I may start leaving him free run of the house more often. He loves to eat and he graciously relinquishes when the senior female decides she likes his dish better. Bruce is very active and loves to run in the yard - did I mention how happy he always is? :) He's a joy to have around and his constant smile is contagious. This fella is so grateful to be alive and constantly reminds us humans what a gift each and every day is.

1/23/10 -

Bruce is a sweet senior boy who was found as a stray. He is already neutered and is reported to be great with other dogs. Bruce shared his kennel at the shelter with a small beagle puppy and a medium sized female mixed breed. He was all wiggles with the people who worked at the shelter. Bruce will be going into a foster home soon and we will update his page once we have more information about him. Thank you for your interest in Bruce!

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.

Adoptions Fee: Please see our adoption info by clicking on the link at the top of this page.
