3/9/10

Ginger has been doing great the last few weeks since her surgery - her staples are out and although she still walks very cautiously on her right leg, she is recovering well! Since the weather has been nice, Ginger has spent the last few days laying outside and soaking up the sun's rays.  During the day, she is busy laying by the front door or on the stairs with my other two dogs. Her full Boxer wiggle and charm are in effect these days and all she wants to do is show you how happy, appreciative and loved you are! She would make a great companion for anyone, a friend to kids, and a play buddy to other dogs!

Ginger has been in our home now for about a month and she has been just a perfect dog. She is completely housebroken and doesn't need to be crated when we leave the house - she mostly sleeps in the living room while we're gone. She LOVES people and will follow my husband and I around the house wherever we go. She is such a kind spirited soul who just wants love and scratches from whomever will give them to her. She has taken very well to my two dogs and even sleeps on the couch with them. She is very tame around little kids and just wants to lick hands! Ginger's a young dog at heart and wants to play, but with a bad ACL in her right leg - she can't move around too well.

We are asking for donations for her ACL surgery, which was around $1000.  Ginger underwent surgery this past Monday and is moving along quite well in her recovery. It is about an eight week recovery time, where she will be limited in her mobility. We are hoping for a speedy recovery. Please sponsor Ginger to help with her vet expenses! She is going to bring a lot of love to the lucky home that adopts her!

1/23/10 -

Ginger is an especially sweet girl who has known love and kindness all her life.  She sadly was surrendered to AABR when her family could no longer care for her.  She is settling in very nicely in her foster home with a male Boxer and a Boston Terrier.  Ginger is a very easy going, affectionate and happy girl.  She loves people, is great with other dogs, large and small, and children of all ages.  She is quite an exceptional girl.

Approximately a year ago, Ginger had surgery for a torn cruciate ligament (ACL).  She is now experiencing pain in the opposite leg and will likely require the same type of surgery for it.  AABR is currently in the process of scheduling an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon for a proper diagnosis and treatment plan.

AABR has recently taken in numerous dogs with high end medical bills and has provided the needed vetting, allowing them to be placed in wonderful forever homes and given a second chance at life.  Your support and donations are what makes this all possible and we need your continued support to help with Ginger's medical bills.  Thank you in advance for your generous donations for her care.  We will update Ginger's page as soon as we have more information.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
