5/2/10 Andy has
been released from Doc's care and is now in a foster awaiting his lifelong
home. Do you have TIME for Andy? We are looking for a home with
plenty of time to spend
with a puppy. A puppy takes more time than an adult dog. It is a lot of work
to teach a puppy all the things it needs to know to be a fun, healthy, happy
dog. How much time? Let's start with what an adult dog needs: The average
adult dog needs you to play with it, exercise it, teach it
good manners, groom it,
feed and water it, and let it relieve itself. Count on at least
half an hour every
morning, and an hour every evening. Some dogs will take more time than that.
The younger the dog, the more time you have to add. For very young puppies,
you will want to take them out to relieve themselves about every two hours.
That is one reason why busy people often start with an adult dog instead of
a puppy.
Are your ready for this RESPONSIBILITY? You can't forget, and you
can't leave it until later. Playing, exercising, teaching, grooming, feeding
and watering, and letting it relieve itself is an everyday thing. Boxers
require plenty of each and your dog counts on you to provide them all!
Taking care of all the needs of a puppy is not all fun all of the time.
Having a dog is a responsibility.
Do you have PATIENCE for Andy? Puppies are babies. They will do things
because they don't know what they are learning. And as they grow up, they
act just like teenagers. They try to get away with doing what they want,
instead of what you want. Teaching them in a way that makes them healthy and
happy takes patience and understanding. Puppies need plenty of socialization
and
obedience training. If you have the time, patience and
responsibility, adding a huge dose of love, apply today to be Andy's
lifelong family.

I want to share our newest addition to AABR and ask all of you to please
keep this puppy in your thoughts! We received an email today from a local
shelter stating that they had a 5-6 week old puppy and that they believed he
had parvo. If we could not take him, they would have to euthanize him. AABR
took this boy directly to the emergency hospital, where he was diagnosed
with Parvo and they began treatment. We have named him Andy, and this brave
boy is fighting for his life.
Andy weighs 5 lbs and is currently running a temperature of 104. His vet
bills are already at $1100, but AABR is doing whatever it takes to save his
life and get him on the road to recovery. If you would like to
contribute to Andy's medical expenses and hospital stay, please offer to
sponsor this adorable puppy. Andy is also in urgent need of a foster home
that can take him home once he is released from the hospital. We will
update his page as soon as we have more information. Thank you for
your interest in Andy!

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure,
by clicking on the link at the top of this page,
then fill out an
online application.
Boxers and Applicants
are not matched on a first come, first served basis.
Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes
between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an
approved applicant, depending
on your personal circumstances and flexibility.
Matching Boxers suitable for placement
with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special
needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review
time and adoption time.
And yes, we
realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted
before you're approved. Should your first choices all ready
found their forever home, we want you to advise
us as to other dogs you are interested in at
Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com . Or let
us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.
That is what we are good at. And be happy for the
ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many
fantastic dogs waiting in their place.
Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful
Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a
Boxer.
We hope you feel that
the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
