12/01/10 I had the pleasure of
dog-sitting Sandy for a week while her foster home was on vacation. What a
doll! Sandy got along great with my dogs and my cat. She had free run of the
downstairs and didn't touch a thing. She is also fine in the crate if you
need her to be. It doesn't get any easier than this one. She is such a love
and could probably fit into any home. I highly recommend adopting this sweet
girl. Please consider giving her the best holiday gift possible - her
forever home!

Everyone who has met Sandy
will agree - she looks & behaves like a different, younger dog since she
first joined us. I just love what quality food, regular exercise and good
care will do! Sandy has lost 6 pounds & now has a gorgeous waistline and
much more energy due to her diet, exercise & thyroid medication. This once
sluggish girl would tire out from just walking the perimeter of our large
yard when she first arrived to our home. Now, Sandy enjoys a mile-plus long
hike every morning—across creeks, up hills, down logging roads and through a
pasture. It’s great to see her transformation; she didn’t even want to get
her feet wet 4 months ago. Sandy also plays with toys now, which was
something she showed no interest in 4 months ago.
Sandy is a playful, silly boxer who enjoys romping around with our 1 year
old female boxer! When they play inside, Sandy rolls right over on her back
& plays with her young friend. When outside, Sandy & her young playmate
chase each other around the yard and NOW Sandy can even catch her. Sandy is
a super smart girl. She sits and stays. She also waits for me to release her
from her stay position. This is something we do during our feeding routine.
When I put Sandy’s food bowl down across the room from her, she waits until
I tell her it’s ok to do to eat. I cannot say enough great things about this
beautiful mature girl. She just loves to be around people and is a great
companion! Won’t you consider making Sandy your companion and give her a
home of her own?

It has been a pleasure
fostering Sandy in my home! She has been with us for a month and you would
think she has always lived here by the way she settled in with my 12 year
old male Lab & 9 month old female Boxer. Sandy is a smart senior lady who
has quickly learned the routines of the house. She knows hand commands for
sit & Sandy walks great on a leash. Sandy absolutely loves riding in the car
& I find her adorable the way she loves to watch where we're going. Sandy
has no interest in toys. She just wants to soak up as much attention &
affection as you want to give her. She is also my little shadow - following
me around the house. She is a lovable snuggle-bug and if you let her, she'll
climb right up into your lap on the couch & nap there.
Sandy has been to the vet (where she quickly won the hearts of all the
employees) & is up to date on her vaccines. Her blood work shows she has a
low thyroid level, which is common in older dogs, and she gets an
inexpensive pill twice a day for her thyroid. The rest of her blood work
results were reported as "beautiful". My 70 year old mother-in-law told me
that Sandy is her kind of dog, because she is so laid back & easy going,
doesn't require long walks, is super affectionate and has that boxer clown
inside of her. Sandy melts my heart when I see her happy nub wiggling when I
come home because she's happy to see me. I know that if you add Sandy to
your life, you will be forever grateful for this sweet girl's companionship.

Sandy and her companion
Petey (a 7 yr old boxer/Rottie mix) were taken to the shelter when
their owners moved and left them behind. Sandy is 10 years old, spayed, and
up to date on all vaccines. She loves people, children, other dogs, cats,
and horses. Sandy is a true lady - very mannerly and even tempered. She is
reported to be housebroken and friendly with visitors. Sandy loves
attention. She recently went into a foster home, and we will update her page
soon. Thank you for your interest in sweet Sandy!

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure,
by clicking on the link at the top of this page,
then fill out an
online application.
Boxers and Applicants
are not matched on a first come, first served basis.
Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes
between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an
approved applicant, depending
on your personal circumstances and flexibility.
Matching Boxers suitable for placement
with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special
needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review
time and adoption time.
And yes, we
realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted
before you're approved. Should your first choices all ready
found their forever home, we want you to advise
us as to other dogs you are interested in at
Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com . Or let
us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.
That is what we are good at. And be happy for the
ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many
fantastic dogs waiting in their place.
Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful
Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a
Boxer.
We hope you feel that
the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
