Chevy is doing well. We continue to work on socializing him. He has gotten better meeting new people, but he needs slow introductions. He will need to go to a quiet home with not too much traffic and a family willing to take it slow with him. He is a big super sweet mush once he knows and trusts you.  Included is a new Facebook video of Chevy:

Chevy completed his heartworm treatment and is doing very well. He was also recently neutered. He is a really sweet and affectionate dog. He loves playing with toys and walks nicely on a leash. He gets along with his 5 foster bothers and sisters. Chevy does need a confident, in charge owner who is experienced with the boxer breed because he is insecure in new situations and with meeting new people. He needs slow introductions and a home committed to him that will consider working with a trainer to help him over his insecurities. If you think you can give Chevy the home he needs, please apply to adopt this this big, beautiful boy.

Chevy came to us with severe demodex mange. He had no hair on his legs and part of his face, and he was also suffering from a secondary skin infection which caused his legs and face to swell. It is amazing what proper nutrition and care will do. Chevy has improved drastically since he was first taken into rescue. He is now growing a beautiful new coat and his face and legs are no longer swollen. Now that his mange and secondary skin infection are under control, he will be starting his heartworm treatment.

Chevy is doing well in his foster home. He is a big boy, over 85 lbs of muscle, but he is amazingly gentle for a dog his size. He is such a sweet and affectionate boy. We are working on basic commands and he is learning very quickly. Chevy loves to play with toys. He likes to walk around the house with the toys in his mouth -it’s just so cute!! This boy deserves the best forever home after all he has been through. If you can give Chevy the loving forever home he deserves, apply to adopt him today!

Chevy finally made it out of the vet kennel after 3 weeks and up to New York to his new foster home. His foster mom calls him the gentle giant. He is a very big boy and weighs over 80lbs and is still thin. Once he has gained some needed weight, he will probably be about 90lbs.

Chevy loves affection and thinks he is a lap dog. He is good with dogs. He also knows his basic commands and is a gentlemen on the leash. He really is a very sweet boy.

Chevy's mange is doing better, along with his secondary skin infections. The cost of his Vet stay and his medical treatment is very expensive. He still needs several more weeks of treatment for his mange and heartworm treatment. Please help by supporting Chevy.

08/11/10 -

Chevy's condition is the result of neglect.  Demodex Mange is highly treatable and is usually the result of bad nutrition, and a bad and stressful environment.  We are working on getting some additional photos on him, and will post them as he goes through his recovery.  Please help us help Chevy.

8/2/10 -

Chevy is a sweet boxer boy suffering from a severe case of demodex mange.  Chevy is also heartworm positive.  He was rescued from a shelter in South Carolina. His face and legs are swollen from the infection. AABR will get him the medical attention and TLC this poor boy needs. Please help AABR pay for his medical care by sponsoring Chevy.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
