4/11/11 Hi All –
it’s Riff Raff again! It’s hard to believe I’ve been at my foster home for
almost 6 months now – I feel like I’ve been through a
Doggy Make Over! I
gained weight, had the eye surgery, some much needed dental work, and look
at me now - I’m a model! But I’m still looking for the human I’m meant to
rescue. Oh where, oh where can my human be? I have met a lot of fabulous
people and have loved them all – big or small, it doesn’t matter. I am great
with other dogs, but have to say I do prefer the lady dogs; I get a little
jealous if there’s another older male dog trying to cramp my style, but I am
always a gentleman.
I am the perfect friend – I will sit and listen to any problem you have
and lend a paw with any task you have to do. I am very low maintenance; I
don’t require a lot of exercise, house broken, and don’t make much noise.
Even though I’m blind, that doesn’t hold me back; it does take me little bit
to learn how to navigate new surroundings, but then you’d never know I was
blind! My foster mom always tells me I am one special dude; I like that,
especially when she gives me hugs after – I like hugs! Are you looking for a
little something special in your life? Fill out an application and let’s
talk – well, you’d be doing the talking, but I’ll be listening attentively!

My
foster family and I had a little scare last week. Something appeared
wrong with one of my eyes and my foster mom took me to the doctor right
away. We discovered that the lens in my
left eye had collapsed and fell backward into my eye. After we saw a
specialist, it was determined that removing the whole eye was really the
best solution. I'm healing just fine and everyone at the doctor's office
where I had my surgery fell in love with me...I even had a little parade
walk me out when I left! My surgery was very expensive, though! Please
help donate towards my care and sponsor me! Your donations allow us to
provide vet care to our boxers in need of homes!

Hi
Friends, Raphael here (AKA Riff Raff). I've been in my foster home for
almost two months now, and WOW, what a great concept, a home! Foster momma
continues to just rave on how sweet and easy a foster baby I've been and
both my foster sisters absolutely adore me! I've been going on outings to
meet people and to date, I haven't met a person I didn't like or who hasn't
liked me -they all say I'm a gem! I love snuggling and playing with my toys,
but what I like the most is a good conversation. No topic is too silly and
where I don't typically have much to add, I'm an excellent listener and just
LOVE being a sounding board to whatever issues you want to bounce off me!
Foster momma calls me Puppy Therapy for the Soul! I would just love to be
your angelic therapist and become your best friend -- we could have good
conversations from morning til night -- I'll always have an ear for YOU!

Hi
world!! You know I was named after Raphael, the angel of healing and patron
of the blind, but that was even before I made it to my foster home. Let me
tell you - I am living up to my name! I am doing such a great job and I am
taking on one mission: I want to rescue a human!! That's right - I have the
right stuff. Okay, so I am a little older and can't see, but I make up for
that in heart!
My foster mom says I am the
sweetest thing around and both my boxer foster sisters really like me
also. I have even met some little humans and they really liked me too! I am
really easy going and don't need to be crated. I wake up in the morning with
spunky boxer kisses and wiggles. I am on the smaller side and my foster mom
says it just adds to my charm! When I hear my name, it is the most beautiful
music in the world, and I just come prancing over.
Things can be a little scary at first, because I am blind. Within a day
of getting to know my surroundings, I have really relaxed and my personality
simply shines through! Stairs are a bit challenging at first, but I am a
stair master with just a little guidance and direction. Do you want to know
the best thing about this whole rescue adventure? I have a nice, comfy bed
to sleep on and I get lots of love every day! Oh, it is heaven!! My foster
mom says that what I have now is only a taste of the good things to come
when I save my human. So what do you say, do you need a little angelic
intervention? Can I fulfill my mission and rescue you???
8/31/10 -
Raphael, whose name means patron of the blind, is a very special boy
- he sees with his heart, instead of with
his eyes. He was found wandering around the farm, where apparently someone
dropped him off. Fortunately for him, the family took him in and has been
caring for him until they could get him to rescue. He has been living
outside with the
farm dogs and is learning the perimeter of the fenced area. He has
been around big and smaller dogs while “vacationing” at the farm, and has
done very well. He pays no attention to the cats. The highlight of his day
is when someone comes out to feed him or pay a little attention to him; he
loves attention. We are looking for a foster or forever home for this
handsome boy.
For anyone who has never had experience with a
blind dog, trust me, it is not difficult. They are just as easy as a
seeing dog, and in many ways, perhaps even more so. They really do not
require special skills on the part of the human. They learn their way around
quickly, they love going for walks, they are wonderful companions and their
hearts are filled with just as much love as any other Boxer. They truly are
wonderful and no one should ever be reluctant to adopt one simply because
they are blind. Please consider giving Raphael a wonderful new life, and in
return, the happiness he brings will repay you tenfold.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure,
by clicking on the link at the top of this page,
then fill out an
online application.
Boxers and Applicants
are not matched on a first come, first served basis.
Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes
between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an
approved applicant, depending
on your personal circumstances and flexibility.
Matching Boxers suitable for placement
with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special
needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review
time and adoption time.
And yes, we
realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted
before you're approved. Should your first choices all ready
found their forever home, we want you to advise
us as to other dogs you are interested in at
Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com . Or let
us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.
That is what we are good at. And be happy for the
ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many
fantastic dogs waiting in their place.
Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful
Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a
Boxer.
We hope you feel that
the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
