Nelson came to AABR two weeks ago as a skinny, wormy, and shy puppy! He is now a happy, healthy, social puppy and he has been a pleasure to have in our home. Nelson is crate trained, sleeps though the night ( which is huge if you have ever raised a puppy), relieves himself when taken outside, and has started to run to the door when he has to go out. He is still having a few accidents inside - but hey, he is only 8 weeks old!! Nelson recently mastered leash walking, he learned the steps, and he runs and plays with the big dogs. He now wags when he sees us, which makes our hearts so happy as we know he is a happy dog! If you are looking for a pretty perfect puppy - it is Nelson!

This is a story that is heard time and time again: owner decided to breed Momma to "make money" and he was not able to sell all the puppies. The Momma had given birth to 14 puppies and the owner did not have the funds to vet any of them, so he gave them and the Momma away. The puppies were not even the legal age to be away from Momma. An AABR home heard of this disaster, and helped where she could by taking two of the puppies. We now have one cutie pie available for adoption.

Meet Nelson - a sweet brindle boxer mix puppy who is only 7 weeks old. Nelson needs a home that can give a puppy a lot of time, attention, training, and socialization. Because Nelson is cute and playful, we will have many applications for him. As precious as boxer puppies are, they don't stay this size very long. Nelson will soon grow into a big, handsome, full grown adult dog that also requires a lot of time and attention. Please do not apply for a boxer puppy unless you have a lifestyle that will meet the needs of this breed. Pets are not rentals for people to keep until they outgrow their purpose. Please be a committed pet guardian for life!

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.  

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.  

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.
