Samson is a kind and friendly, easy going boy who loves to play with other dogs - both large and small, male or female. Right now, he's having the time of his life in his foster home with other Boxers and French bulldogs to play with. He loves all people and isn't overwhelming. Walking on leash, he can be reactive to other dogs, but over time should become more comfortable with the right encouragement. Samson is a gentleman in the house and is happy to go into his crate anytime he's asked. He loves to go for car rides. Samson isn't a city or apartment dog, but he'd love a home with a nice fenced yard to play and at least one other dog for company. Samson's head has grayed a little prematurely (as some of us do!) but rest assured, he's a healthy, energetic 5 year old Boxer with a fun outlook on life.

10/11/10

Samson is in a temporary foster home and he is doing great with other dogs!  He is having a wonderful time playing with them.  We are happy to be able to get this information to let people know that with proper introductions, he can be placed into a home with another dog.

10/5/10

Samson's home indicates that he is a sweet, responsive dog. He wants to please at all times and watches your face to see how he is doing. He is calm in the house and good with adult visitors. Samson is a bit enthusiastic with small children, so we would recommend a home with kids over 8 years at this time. Samson has lived with cats, but he does sometimes chase them. He is a quiet boy. Samson sleeps all night on his bed and is not an early riser. He would do best in a home that can take him out at least mid-day. Samson is losing his home on Thursday, and is in urgent need of a foster home to go to. Please apply today to help Samson!

9/27/10

Samson is being returned to rescue and is in urgent need of a foster or forever home!  He has done wonderful with every person he meets, adult or child, and Samson has previously lived with cats.  However, he is reactive to other dogs and would do best as an only dog at this time.  He is neutered and up to date on all vet care.  Please let us know as soon as possible if you can provide a foster home for Samson!

9/10/10 -

Samson is a 5 yr old neutered male boxer who was surrendered to the city shelter when his owner moved. He needs a home without other dogs, but is reported to be good with cats and children of all ages. Samson is great on leash and is wonderful with people. Apply today for Samson!

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
