Elvis is doing wonderful in his foster home. He knows all of his basic commands, is crate trained, potty trained, and has slept through the night with no accidents since he arrived. He seems to enjoy his crate and looks at it as a place of rest and relaxation. Elvis also loves playing with his toys and playing with his 2 foster sisters, especially with his Boxer sister, Hope, who was also an AABR adoptee. Elvis will be starting an obedience class next week at "Your Dog's Friend" in Rockville, MD where he will perfect his commands and work on his leash training. Elvis is smart and a fast learner, but the best thing about him is how he loves to snuggle and gives lots and lots of kisses!

10/18/10

Elvis has been in foster almost a week now, and he is doing great! He is in foster with two other dogs and a cat. Elvis loves to play with the other dogs and he has had absolutely no problems acclimating with the cat. Housebreaking is coming along well and his foster family is working on leash training - he pulls a little, but is learning quickly. Elvis is very smart and wants to please - he already knows sit and is picking up his other basic commands. Elvis has been sleeping through the night in his crate without a peep and with no accidents. He is a really sweet boy and adores children. Elvis couldn't give them enough kisses when they arrived at his foster home for lessons. Elvis has the energy and curiosity of a puppy his age, but when it comes to discipline, he is very mature. It only takes one "NO" to get his attention, and then he rarely needs correction again. His foster home feels he may be a boxer/hound mix. Elvis has been a wonderful foster puppy, and he is going to make a family very happy. Apply today for Elvis!

Elvis did great on his transport today - he was very well behaved in everybody's car, even though it was a really long ride for a young boy (6.5 hours).  Elvis greeted everyone with lots of tail wags and wiggles.  He needs some work on his basic manners, but is going to be a wonderful boy for a family who takes the time needed to raise a well-mannered puppy.  Elvis is currently at the vet's office, and will be going to his foster home within the next few days.  We will update his page once he settles in there. Thank you for your interest in Elvis!

10/8/10 -

Elvis was found in the woods in rural West Virginia. The woman that found him contacted all possible neighbors, animal control, and the police - but nobody came forward for this puppy. She then contacted rescue for help, hoping we could take Elvis and find him a wonderful, forever home.

The woman that found Elvis indicated that she was disabled and not able to give him the time and energy that a young puppy needs. Elvis is a white boy with brindle patches. He is estimated to be only 5 months old and he has a natural tail. His temporary home has been working hard on his housebreaking and teaching him some basic manners. Elvis got along really well with the three other dogs in the home. He plays fetch, loves to wrestle with the other dogs, and is a great cuddler. Elvis will be transported into rescue tomorrow. He will be neutered and then going into a foster home with a cat and two other dogs. We will update his page once we know more about him. If you have the time and commitment for a puppy this age, apply today for Elvis!

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
