Jack is purebred boxer who was born February 7, 2008. He has already been
neutered and weighs around 75 lbs. Jack is a healthy boy who is current on
all vet care. Jack is a loving, mushy, happy, gentle boxer that will do
anything to please his family. Jack’s current family (Husband, wife and 7
month old) are heartbroken to have to find a new home for him. Jack is like
one of their children. He has the sweetest face and loves to rest his head
in your lap. Jack keeps the family safe at night, investigating any noise he
hears. The family’s 7 month old son rams Jack with his walker and all Jack
wants to do is lick him and give the baby his ball. Jack is playful and
gentle. He will follow you everywhere in the house or yard, whether doing
laundry, cooking dinner or cleaning up the yard.
Jack is a young, active dog who enjoys playing outside. He loves to play in
the yard, which has an invisible fence which Jack will not break. Jack also
enjoys walking. He is a great walking partner and he does not pull. Jack
also loves going for jogs. In 2008, Jack trained with his owner for a
marathon and would complete runs up to 12 miles. Jack loves walking or
jogging anytime, whether it is 430am or in the evenings. In the summer, Jack
goes to the beach during off hours and he runs into the waves. Jack also
goes swimming if you are in the water. He will not jump in the water, he
walks in, and only if you are in the water. He will fetch floating
toys/sticks and bring them back to you.
While Jack is a loving, playful dog, he likes to be the only male dog while
playing or in the house. Jack plays well with a female boxer he grew up with
or young female dogs. Jack currently lives with a 7 year old male tabby cat
who is his best friend and boss. The cat loves to ambush Jack from around
corners and Jack lies down and plays gently with the cat.
Jack is looking for a low traffic home with adults and/or dog savvy
children. Jack is a part of the family, but his protective nature is not
compatible with a household with a part time daycare where many parents and
children will be coming and going. Jack’s family is deeply saddened to lose
Jack from their family. This has been a very difficult decision for them to
make and they will do anything needed to help Jack with this transition.
Jack is a good listener and responds well to training with treats. Jack
knows commands (sit, stay, paw, down, stand) and he recently completed an
extensive training program with Bob Madia, who specializes in large breed
dog training. The training consisted of proper dog walking techniques;
teaching down, stay and stand; proper techniques for introducing strangers
and answering the door. Jack progressed very quickly with the training. A
video of the training has been made so Jack’s new family can continue the
routine. Since Jack completed the program, his listening and temperament
with strangers are much better. Once Jack’s owners were trained on how to
train Jack, Jack picked up the training immediately. The training was done
because Jack is very protective of the house and the yard and will not allow
strangers or delivery men on to the yard if he is outside. Jack is also
protective of the family and friends inside the house. Jack will do anything
to defend the family and friends.
Jack is house trained and is never crated in the house. At night, Jack likes
to sleep on the floor in the master bedroom or on the living room floor.
Jack does not jump on people or furniture and he does not chew anything but
his toys.
If you feel you can provide the right environment for Jack and are willing
to continue his training, please submit your application today!

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure,
by clicking on the link at the top of this page,
then fill out an
online application.
Boxers and Applicants
are not matched on a first come, first served basis.
Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes
between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an
approved applicant, depending
on your personal circumstances and flexibility.
Matching Boxers suitable for placement
with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special
needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review
time and adoption time.
And yes, we
realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted
before you're approved. Should your first choices all ready
found their forever home, we want you to advise
us as to other dogs you are interested in at
Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com . Or let
us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.
That is what we are good at. And be happy for the
ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many
fantastic dogs waiting in their place.
Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful
Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a
Boxer.
We hope you feel that
the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
