1/11/11 - Happy Beginning!
I just wanted to share a happy beginning story and share our
gratitude for the service AABR provides and the joy our new family member
has brought to our life.
We adopted a boxer from AABR on Thanksgiving weekend— her
AABR name was Peyton, but she’s since had a name change to Maggie :) We
sadly lost our 6-year-old boxer to
lymphoma about 4 weeks before Maggie became part of the family. As
soon as we met 2 year-old Maggie at the kennel, we knew this sweet,
energetic girl belonged with us. She was too thin, had a limp and was a bit
skittish—all of which we knew we could take care of with lots of love and
care.
Maggie loves playing in her new yard and going for long
walks. Her favorite thing is napping on couches and beds throughout the
house, laying on the pillow with a blanket, like a human. After she eats,
she’ll run over to us and give us a “hug”--wrapping her neck around ours, as
if to thank us for taking care of her. She also loves kids, and her human
little brother should be arriving any day now--we know they will be
best friends.
We will definitely consider fostering and adopting another
special friend in the future. Many thanks to AABR for completing our
family!

We received a call from a woman who asked us if we could take a stray
boxer into rescue. They had been feeding her at their maintenance shop over
the past several months, and had finally earned her trust. A volunteer from
our rescue was able to pull this young girl into rescue this weekend. When
Peyton was scanned at the vet's office, she was found to have a microchip
and we were able to speak with the original owners. They had given her away
in July due to the allergies of their new baby, and Peyton had jumped the
fence a day later. This poor girl has been on our her own for three
months now. She is going to stay with AABR in hopes of finding her a
wonderful, forever home that will keep her safe.
Peyton is a 2 year old fawn female who previously lived with children and
she absolutely adores them. She is an energetic young girl, and will
need a home that can provide socialization and exercise. She is reported to
be great with other dogs. Peyton was already spayed and is now being brought
up to date with all other vet care. She is in urgent need of a foster home.
New pictures are coming soon. Please apply today for Peyton!
