Evander is still waiting patiently for the perfect person or adult couple to call his own. He is a funny, fickle little fella and if he decides he likes you, then he REALLY likes you. He thoroughly enjoys chasing birds, even flying birds, and he doesn't seem to realize that he cannot jump that high. He gives it the good old college try, only getting maybe an inch or so from the ground and then looking extremely happy with himself as if he has chased away a bad guy.

Evander needs a boxer savvy home. If placed with a submissive female dog, his new family will need to be very patient with introductions.  He generally does not do well with other animals and needs a home without children.  Evander can be very nervous meeting new people.  Once he knows and trusts you, Evander is your constant shadow.  He is perfectly content to sit with you on the couch and watch any shows you choose, never complaining about not getting the remote. How could anyone resist a guy like that! Get your application in now for this special little boxer boy!

Well, Evander hasn’t been with AABR as long as some - but we’re sure 8 months sure does seem like a long time to him. He’s still looking for that perfect person or couple to take him home and complete their family. He may be able to be placed with a submissive female dog of the same size - as he has become fast friends with his foster fur sister, Bella. Slow introductions and patience will be needed to ensure a successful and lasting friendship.

Evander is a very unique looking little guy. His fur is very soft and super glossy black with a white blaze on his chest. When he gets excited, he does the cutest little dance accompanied by a “piggly” sort of grunt. Evander is a very handsome little guy, so if you are interested in meeting him for adoption - please submit an application for him today.

Evander has been with us for 4 months now and he is still waiting for his forever home! Don’t let his little size fool you – this guy has a Rock Star personality. He loves attention and wants it all for himself. He enjoys being with his parents and he would be very happy if his new mom/dad could spend all day with him. He is completely housebroken and has learned to share toys with his brother & sister. I think he could be taught most anything with treats and he’ll scoot around in a “sit” if you move around with treat in hand. He is, like most Boxers, a complete clown and makes us laugh every day. Mr. Evander will need a Boxer savvy forever home and patient new parents willing to provide firm training. If you’re interested in Evander, please submit your application today.

Evander is a little guy with a big guy personality! He loves attention and would prefer not to share your affection with other dogs. He would give kisses all day long if you let him. Evander picks up new things quickly, but will require somebody to provide firm training, practicing the "Nothing in Life is Free" (NILF) method. He seems to enjoy going into his crate to sleep, especially if a treat is involved. Evander is not very interested in most toys, although he has grown fond of his stuffed frog and he likes to play with rope toys and knotted towels. He is very careful not to tear his stuffed toy and just likes to have "Froggy" around. Evander is one handsome dude, so if you are interested in meeting him for adoption - submit your application today!

12/27/10

Evander is currently at the vet's office for his neuter appointment.  He is in need of a foster home following his surgery.  We will update his page with more information soon.

11/30/10

Evander is still waiting in the kennel for a foster or forever home. He is very scared in the kennel and would love to get back into a home soon.  His previous foster mom indicates that Evander is a really good dog. He picked up his new name quickly and always came when called. He has a really sweet and loving disposition. Evander did well with the submissive boxer in his foster home.  He is not doing well in the kennel environment - please apply today for Evander!

11/12/10

Evander is now at one of our kennels and in urgent need of a new foster home. Kennel life is particularly stressful for him and Evander is in need of a home that will be patient and will allow him time to slowly acclimate to a home environment.  We have determined that he is housebroken and great in his crate. He loves people and would do best in a home with a fenced yard. Please apply today if you are interested in fostering or adopting Evander!

11/10/10

Evander is settling into our home and beginning to enjoy hanging out with his foster brother and sister. Evander is a sweet little boy who just loves to cuddle and give kisses. He’s a petite fella with a BIG heart and he loves to follow me around the house. Evander is completely house trained, will go into his crate when we go to work with no problems with a treat.  He sleeps in bed like a champ all through the night! He hasn’t quite got the knack of playing with toys yet, but he does eyeball his foster sister and brother when they are playing so I think it’s just a matter of time!! He makes the cutest little grunt sounds when he’s excited and happy and he skips around the house, which makes everyone laugh. If you can provide a forever home for Evander, apply today!

11/02/10

Included are some new pictures from Evander's transport today.  He gave lots of kisses and traveled well in the car.  Evander met a variety of other animals while waiting to be checked in at the vet. He has a great temperament and is going to be a wonderful boy for a lucky family.  His foster mom will update his page soon once she gets to know him better.

11/01/10 -

Evander was found by a hunter in the woods and was taken to the local shelter. Since they are so crowded, they called rescue for help. The volunteers at the shelter indicate that he is a sweet boy who loves to give kisses. Evander is estimated to be around 3 years old. He has been great with the other dogs, and sniffed and ignored the resident cat. Evander is very scared at the shelter. He will be transported to the vet's office to be neutered and brought up to date on all vet care. He will then be going into a foster home with two other boxers. His foster mom will give him some tender loving care and will help him gain some much needed weight. Apply today if you are interested in providing a forever home for this handsome boy!

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
