It has been another week here and 20" of snow is making Bubba just a little stir crazy. Even with our walks, he wants to go out and really turn loose in the yard and the snow is cramping his style. He'd love to be in a home where he can get lots of exercise - Bubba is not a lay around the house kind of boy.

Bubba enjoyed all the company at Christmas and greeted everyone with the same happy personality - he just loves people. He continues to have perfect house manners, although he does really enjoy the opportunity to cuddle up on the bed with you and will sneak up while you're snoring if he thinks he can. This morning, after my husband got up for work, I woke up to Bubba curled up on his pillow. This guy is just great and loves to play - I can't imagine a better choice to adopt!

Bubba has been at our house a week now and he's been such a joy to incorporate into our routine. He's a big fawn boy who's definitely prematurely gray (some of us can appreciate that).  Bubba is a perfect gentleman in the house.  He is absolutely housebroken and will whine and then bark to be taken out if we don't get the picture or take him out often enough. He eats with gusto and that's a good thing since he needs to put on just a few pounds - we can see his ribs and his hips just a little bit. The funny thing about Bubba is that he has great manners, he doesn't jump up or get pushy with people at all, but he also doesn't seem to know any basic commands. We're working on just a couple of things, like sitting to wait for his food and waiting at doorways when he's asked to because we like those kinds of manners here. I think he'll pick up on them very quickly.

Bubba has the energy of a 2 year old boy.  My daughter laughed when I was talking to her and he was behind me trying to get my attention. He was bouncing and his head was clearing my shoulder (I'm 5' 8" so that's not a little bounce!). Maybe he should be called "Bumble" like the Abominable Snowmonster in the Rudolph special on TV because "Bumbles Bounce"! Bubba is good with both our dogs (male and female) and, while we don't have a cat, I suspect he would be ok with cats. He ignores our chickens and even the squirrels on the birdfeeder, much to my dismay. I can't imagine anyone wouldn't love having Bubba as part of their family - he's just fantastic!

12/08/10 -

Bubba, called "Rocky" at the shelter, is a 7 year old boy who was surrendered to the shelter through no fault of his own. The owner's mother moved in and began having problems with asthma. Bubba is very easygoing and great with other dogs. He also passed his cat test at the shelter. Bubba is already neutered and will be transported to his new foster home this weekend. We will update his page with new pictures and more information soon! Thank you for your interest in Bubba!

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
