3/22/11 - MEMORIAL

Bubba was left at a Philly shelter Christmas Eve, 2010 and was lucky enough to be immediately brought into rescue by AABR.  Bubba was a sweet soul, wanting nothing more than to be close to you.  While he suffered from degenerative myelopathy (DM), it was ultimately a severe eye infection that caused the existing cataracts to progress to glaucoma, putting Bubba in a lot of pain

Bubba is now in heaven.  He is smiling, free from all the pain.  He is running without limitation.  And he left our world knowing the love of many, many fabulous people from Adopt a Boxer Rescue.  His new foster mom has provided a wonderful home for Bubba these last several weeks, keeping him as comfortable as possible.

What can I say about Bubba? He is a soulful and thoughtful dog. It does take some time for him to adjust to his environment as he does have cataracts and hears higher pitched sounds better than lower. However, he is a good and courteous dog in a home. All he asks of his future owner is a scratch behind the ears, regular feeding times, and a spot next to you to lay his head. If you have a heart for a dog that needs some special care and want a dog that will love you for just being there for him, Bubba is the guy. Take a look at his sweet face -it tells you all about his personality.

Bubba participated at an adoption event today.  We have included a new picture!

12/27/10 -

Bubba was dumped at an overcrowded city shelter on Christmas Eve. He is one of the few that has made it out of the shelter system and is completely safe with rescue. Bubba is a lucky boy, he was able to be saved and spend Christmas in a loving, warm home. He is a sweet big guy with soulful eyes that will melt your heart. Bubba lived with other dogs and children. He also did great with his cat test at the shelter. At 11 yrs old, it's time for Bubba to start a brand new life. Will you help Bubba with that? Please adopt one of our seniors and help us give them the best new beginning we could possibly give them.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
