5/4/11 Queenie,
called "Honey" by her foster mom, is doing very well. She is full of pep and
overflows with affection. Queenie's forever home has to have another dog, be
willing to keep her on a schedule for eating 2X/day (chicken and rice or
ground beef cooked at home!), and give her the best forever home
ever. She is 100% snuggles and loves to sleep in bed with you. She needs to
go out several times a day since she is still on prednisone. Queenie bonds
very strongly with humans and she absolutely loves other dogs. She would do
best in a quiet home where somebody is there a lot. If you feel you are a
good match for Queenie, fill out the application today!

Queenie
is now off medical hold and available for adoption! Her IBS has been
stabilized and she is doing great in her foster home.
3/22/11
After
much testing, Queenie has been diagnosed as having
IBS (irritable bowel
syndrome). Her diet has been altered to help with her symptoms.
Although IBS is a chronic condition, it is not life-threatening. Queenie
needs a home that is quiet and where she can be comfortable in a low
stress environment. Her personality through this has never changed -
she is the sweetest little Boston Terrier! Queenie loves to snuggle and to
be loved. Queenie would make a wonderful addition to a lucky family! Please
apply today to adopt.
All of Queenie's medical testing has been very expensive - please sponsor
Queenie today to help with her care!

Queenie
has been returned to rescue and she will be arriving soon at her new foster
home. Queenie is looking for a home that is there often or can let her
out mid-day for a potty break. She would love to go to a home with other
dogs! If you can provide a forever home for Queenie, apply today!

Queenie
had her second and final hernia repair surgery last week, and she has
recovered well. With crate
training and a regular schedule, she is now almost fully
housetrained. Queenie would love to start the new year in a forever home!
1/03/11
Queenie
absolutely loves other dogs, especially
small dogs. When she sees my neighbor's Frenchies, or other Boston
Terriers at the dog park - she really lights up! Queenie would be fine with
boxers or other large dogs, but obviously could get injured by a
rambunctious dog, so should go with older or easygoing big dogs. Queenie
doesn't have any concept of personal space, so it is crucial that the dog
she is placed with be tolerant of this. Queenie is not dependent on other
dogs, and could also be placed as an only dog in the home.
Queenie is now walking well on leash. She would be ideal for a home that
works part time or stays at home, so they can continue to work on
housebreaking. She is getting much better with her
crate training, but does need let out frequently for breaks. Queenie
loves everyone and has a fantastic temperament. She is quite brave and very
playful. Queenie LOVES to fetch. If you can provide a forever home for
Queenie, apply today!

Please
reach out and educate people about
puppy mills. Queenie
went in today for her spay surgery. As a result of two poorly done
C-sections at the mill, it turns out Queenie had two hernia's top and bottom
that were causing her pain and discomfort. The omentum had tried to heal her
body and fused the spleen, uterus, intestines, and stomach all together. In
addition, her intestines had twisted and tucked in to the hernia with very
limited blood supply. The vet was very surprised that she was not displaying
more symptoms. Queenie was under for a longer than normal time and is
being kept overnight for observation. In the morning, they will give her
more IV fluids and will probably release her with pain pills. So for the
next two weeks, Queenie will be kept and observed and if anything doesn't
heal right, she will need immediate emergency care (xrays and surgery).
Her surgery today was a surprise. She came through well, but
Queenie is not out of the woods yet. Please consider donating on her behalf
and please pass on the word to not support puppy mills!
12/12/10 -
Queenie was rescued from a puppy mill. Her owner was relinquishing her to
AABR because she has diarrhea! Luckily for Queenie, her puppy producing days
are over and she will be treated and vetted. Like many
puppy mill dogs, she has not been exposed to much. Leashes and
collars are all new to her, as are baths and being indoors. Queenie is
a very sweet and willing girl. Her foster mom is very impressed by her
stable temperament and her fearlessness. Queenie is loving the treats and
attention. In just one day, she is already coming when called and
initiating lots of pets.
