3/23/11 - MEMORIAL
It is with the heaviest of hearts that I must tell you that heaven
received another angel today - our sweet Hoss slipped away to eternal sleep.
Hoss was a breeder boy that was just released from a
puppy mill 5 days ago. He only had 5 days of a caring life and, sad
to say, only one night in a home, which was his last night of life. It is
not fair, but Hoss died with the love of AABR and his foster parents,
Colleen and Paul.
It has been such a sad year for AABR dogs. We have recently lost so many
dogs that deserved so much more! We know they didn’t have good lives until
they came to us and we try so hard to give them what they deserve. It hurts
us deeply when we can’t and we feel like we failed. Please don’t let Hoss
die in vain. Reach inside yourself and PLEDGE NO MORE PUPPLY MILLS! Pledge
not to shop, only to adopt. Pledge to save a life today! We hear all too
often that "I only want a puppy, I can’t take an older dog because I can’t
bear to lose them!" Don’t they all deserve a family? Don’t they all deserve
happiness? And if they pass on, don’t they deserve to know they were wanted,
loved, and cherished -regardless of their age. Let’s start thinking about
these poor innocent animals that society has discarded. Stop looking at
their ages and find a place in your hearts to save them. We need to commit
to get every dog out of the kennels and into homes. If you were thinking of
becoming a foster home or a forever home, NOW is the time! Say yes - we can
take one more. We have to open our homes and hearts as their lives depend on
it! Look at all of our faces still in need: Myrtle, Mocha, Mabel, Skip,
Skippie, Cojax, Shiloh, Maribell, Luke, Satchel, Sparkle - they all deserve
a foster family and a chance at happiness. We know they all won’t fit in
every home, but there is a home for every one!
Dear, sweet Hoss - not a day will go by that we won't think of you. You
were taken suddenly and far too soon and we just weren't ready to say
goodbye. We pledge to continue to save precious animals and to do our best
to shut down these puppy mills.
We are so sorry you had that life! We will miss you every day Hoss, you gave
us a smile and a wiggle that will never be replaced.
All our love,
AABR
Thank you Colette for picking up this sweet boy, loving him, and taking
him to safety.
Thank you Gail for caring for him, loving him, and missing him
Thank you Stef for transporting him and giving comfort and someone to
miss him
Thank you Colleen and Paul for opening your home and heart to another dog
in need. Thank you for giving him a home even though it was too short. Thank
you for caring and giving him something he did not have - someone to care
for him, miss him and love him. He is now with Ollie telling him Mom and Dad
are ok running free, having fun.
3/18/11-
Hoss was used as a stud dog in a puppy mill. He was kept in a cement pen
and interacted with several other dogs, small and large. Hoss is also great
with children as there were kids around caring for him all the time. When
the mill closed a year ago, they kept him in hopes of using Hoss in a
smaller operation. Luckily for Hoss, this never happened and he was recently
surrendered to the shelter.
Hoss arrived to our kennel this evening and will be neutered soon and
brought up to date on all vet care. Hoss is a big boy and he is estimated to
be around 4 years old. He is very sweet and we are hoping to find a foster
or forever home for him soon! Apply today for Hoss!

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure,
by clicking on the link at the top of this page,
then fill out an
online application.
Boxers and Applicants
are not matched on a first come, first served basis.
Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes
between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an
approved applicant, depending
on your personal circumstances and flexibility.
Matching Boxers suitable for placement
with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special
needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review
time and adoption time.
And yes, we
realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted
before you're approved. Should your first choices all ready
found their forever home, we want you to advise
us as to other dogs you are interested in at
Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com . Or let
us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.
That is what we are good at. And be happy for the
ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many
fantastic dogs waiting in their place.
Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful
Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a
Boxer.
We hope you feel that
the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
