6/3/12

It is hard to believe that this July 6th will be the one year anniversary of Annabelle coming to live with us. She loves everyone she meets and in spite of her disability, she looks forward to her daily walks and car rides. Annabelle, after a long hard life, lost her hind legs to DM (Degenerative Myopathy) approximately 5 months ago. Thanks to the kindness of a friend who donated her Boxer K-9 Cart to Annabelle, she has been able to walk and even run like a normal Boxer. She is the most amazing senior girl. Every morning I wake up to see her beautiful gray face laying on the back our our sofa, which makes my day every day. Who could ask for anything more....

8/8/11

Annabelle is settling in well at her foster home and she is such a sweetheart! She loves everyone that she meets and the feeling is mutual - Annabelle had all of us from hello! She is so easy going and she loves to nap. Annabelle enjoys going out in the yard and basking in the sun, taking rides in the car, and most of all being with her human family! She seems to be very fond of men, in particular.

Annabelle has been on Thyroid meds for about two weeks now and her appetite is getting better. As a result, she is slowly putting on some much needed weight. She has also been diagnosed with Degenerative Myelopathy (DM), which causes progressive rear limb weakness.  Annabelle is a little wobbly on her rear legs, but she can still run from time to time.

Her foster family is still working with Annabelle to help her learn to live peacefully with the three other dogs in her home.  Annabelle would do best in a home without steps and carpet is much easier for her to move around on. Some new photos are included of this beautiful senior boxer girl!

6/29/11 -

Annabelle was found as a stray in a local schoolyard. She is a very sweet senior girl. When our volunteer went to meet her at the shelter, she was curled in a ball and shaking.  Due to an offer of help, we were able to pull her quickly from the shelter and move her into a temporary foster home while she is recovering from a cold.  Annabelle will then be going to our vet for an exam and moving into her foster home.  She has some weakness in her back legs, which we will have examined.  She will need a home without a lot of stairs.  We will update her page as we get more information about her.  Please consider adopting Annabelle.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
