Monty recently went on a trip to New York and he did great with everyone he met. He had made a lot of improvements with his introductions to new people. Monty has been wonderful with all the dogs he has met also - he just acts like a rambunctious puppy! He got the chance to go swimming a few weeks ago and caught on quickly. Monty is doing well with housebreaking and now sleeps through the night. If you can provide a forever home for Monty, apply today!

Monty is in foster and adjusting well. He is very puppy like in his behavior and his foster dad is estimating him to only be around a year of age.  Monty knows sit and he gives his paw when he does it. He loves to cuddle with his foster dad and is doing well with his crate training.  When Monty is let out of the crate, he literally bounces around the house in excitement.  Monty does still need some work with housebreaking, but he is making progress. He can be wary with new people and does need time to warm up to them.  Monty loves to play with other dogs and he will also entertain himself with a toy by throwing it in the air and catching it.

6/25/11 -

Monty is a really thin boxer boy who was found as a stray. The person that called animal control claimed that Monty was left in their yard. When he arrived at the shelter, Monty was very scared and difficult to handle. We had a volunteer meet him and spend some time with Monty out of the kennel run. Once he was outside the shelter and able to relax, he became much more comfortable and playful. Monty is currently at our vet's office, where he will be neutered and brought up to date on everything. He will then be going into a foster home with another boxer, where we will learn more about him and what kind of home he needs.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.  

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.  

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.
