Lilly is a great girl -full of love & energy. She walks good on the leash and gets very excited when she knows she gets to go. She is great in the car as well. Lilly plays well with her older foster sister. I am still trying to work with her house training and she is starting to catch on. Lilly is being crated when I am not home and is fine with that - she goes right in (with a treat or two, of course)! Lilly does seem to be a cat chaser, but she has never harmed them.  Unfortunately, she doesn't hear when the cats make that very loud "get away from me" sound.

Lilly is a snuggler and does enjoy sleeping in the bed. She loves everybody she meets. I think Lilly will have to go to a home that has a nice big fenced in yard as she is a runner. She is learning some basic commands and really is eager to follow directions as long as you have some treats to back it up. She has a HUGE appetite and will never be later for dinner.  If you have a fenced yard and a dog companion for Lilly, apply today!

7/22/11 -

Lilly was surrendered to the shelter when her owners separated and could not take care of her. She is an adorable and very petite white boxer - only weighing in at 38 lbs! She is deaf, but Lilly doesn't know or show any disability! If you haven't worked with a deaf dog before, they are wonderful and very easy to train. Deaf dogs require a different method of communication, but are no different in any other regard.

The volunteer that went to meet Lilly indicated that she is absolutely precious!  Lilly has one blue eye and one brown eye. She is such a happy little girl. At the dog park, she was as excited as could be - jumping around and running throughout the yard. Lilly is so gentle and very sweet with people. She walks great on leash, following close by. Lilly traveled well in the car.  She was very relaxed and content laying across the seat.

At our vet's office, everyone in the waiting area fell in love with her. She had no problems at all meeting other dogs. This little girl is going to be a great addition to a lucky family! Because she is deaf, we would love to find a home with a fenced yard and another dog.  Lilly previously lived with cats and two children. She is currently at our vet's office to be spayed and will then be going into her foster home. We will update her page as soon as her foster mom gets to know her better.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
