10/15/11 What a wonderful boy Bosco
is! Having him as a foster dog in our home has been so easy we almost feel
guilty. Bosco is 100% house trained. He has amazing manners in the house and
is very obedient. Bosco LOVES to ride in the car and has been coming to work
with us where he is nothing short of a celebrity. He sleeps on a dog bed in
our room with our dogs and you never hear a peep out of him. Bosco recently
traveled with us to our beach home and was outstanding for the 3 plus hour
car ride. He adapted to a new environment with complete ease and was a huge
hit at a dinner party we had.
Over the last six weeks, Bosco has gained 18lbs and has underwent his
treatment for heartworms with flying colors. People can hardly believe how
great he looks now. I say his outside appearance finally matches his
personality as he has a beautiful soul. Any family lucky enough to adopt
this amazing dog will never regret it.

Sweet Bosco has been with us
almost a week now and we are so lucky to have the opportunity to know and
love this foster dog. We have learned a lot about him in a short time. We
have learned that he is very well behaved. He will go into his crate on
command and sits patiently while you prepare his meals. He knows many
commands such as sit, stay, down, paw, etc. Bosco is crate trained and will
easily go potty while on a leash. Bosco was wonderful for his bath and ear
cleaning. I think he truly enjoyed the attention. When we showed him the
nail clippers, he quickly rolled over on his back for us to clip them!
Clearly this amazing dog was once someone's pet, but how he ended up so
malnourished in a rural shelter in SC will forever be a mystery.
Bosco has the perfect balance of being playful and silly while still
maintaining good behavior. He is not rowdy, but loves to play and knows when
it is time to relax! While we will never know how he ended up where he did,
we feel very lucky to have the opportunity to show Bosco that all his love
and trust in humans is not misplaced. If you have been waiting for the
opportunity to give a deserving dog a wonderful life, then this is your
chance. I can promise you that Bosco is that dog.

No matter how hard you look, you may never find a Boxer quite as sweet as
Bosco! Poor Bosco is a two year old male that was found roaming as a stray
in rural
South Carolina. Bosco was picked up by Animal Control, but sadly dogs
in that situation are not given very much time. The kind woman who runs the
shelter contacted AABR for help as she knew Bosco deserved a chance at a
real life. You see, Bosco was adopted out by another shelter in South
Carolina, but ended up as a stray!
Bosco arrived in
Pennsylvania emaciated, but with a wag in his tail and a smile on his
face! Despite the fact that the world has shown him such cruelty, he is
warm, friendly and so so cute! Bosco is trained to potty on a leash, crate
trained, good with other dogs, and he knows many basic commands. It is hard
to imagine how he knows all of these things, but ended up in such bad shape.
Bosco will need to undergo treatment for heartworms, which will be happening
next week.
Bosco will need a home that can help him become the beautiful boxer on
the outside that he is clearly on the inside! If you are looking for a Boxer
who wants nothing more than to be your best friend and someone who is always
there for you, then Bosco is your man. If you are not able to adopt, please
consider helping AABR continue our life saving work by sending a donation
for Bosco and all of the great dogs in our care.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure,
by clicking on the link at the top of this page,
then fill out an
online application.
Boxers and Applicants
are not matched on a first come, first served basis.
Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes
between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an
approved applicant, depending
on your personal circumstances and flexibility.
Matching Boxers suitable for placement
with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special
needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review
time and adoption time.
And yes, we
realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted
before you're approved. Should your first choices all ready
found their forever home, we want you to advise
us as to other dogs you are interested in at
Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com . Or let
us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.
That is what we are good at. And be happy for the
ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many
fantastic dogs waiting in their place.
Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful
Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a
Boxer.
We hope you feel that
the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
