Tillie is a a fun loving girl and she is really enjoying life. Tillie has found her weight loss to be rewarding, as she now loves to go out and sprint! She's now down to 67.4 lbs. which is about 10 lbs. of weight lost! She's working hard to lose more weight to continue to bring out that healthy looking boxer physique.

Tillie is pretty quiet around the house and loves soft dog beds or curling up with her foster brother. She does enjoy play time and loves to get the attention of us humans in the house by bringing us toys to play with. Tillie's time in her crate is now limited to when we are not home. I work from home so she is accustomed to being out of her crate the vast majority of the time and is only crated when we leave the house. Tillie is used to being around other dogs from growing up in the puppy mill. She follows her foster brother around and likes to be laying close enough to be touching him. Tillie will need to join a home that has another dog. She's good with our dog, adults and kids. We hope that Tillie's furever family with her new canine companion will come to love and appreciate her fun and relaxed boxer personality.

Tillie is an absolutely lovely dog that loves to give boxer kisses, her paw, and just get attention period. She is progressing nicely and is adapting well to in home living. Tillie now spends the vast majority of the time outside of her crate. She goes in the crate when we leave the house and at night. She recently discovered that she loves toys! This girl will play for hours by herself with a basket of toys.

We recently had the family over and there were 11 people who interacted with her. It took her a few minutes to warm up, but she enjoyed playing with our 3 nieces ages 8 - 13. In addition, Tillie recently got to meet a 21 month old and enjoyed giving her kisses. I would say that Tillie gets along very well with children.

We recently went on a road trip, so we packed the crate for Tillie and off we went. She stayed in the back of the SUV with her foster brother for the 5 hour drive. She rode very well in the back of the car in both directions. She was a little shy in the new surroundings once we reached our destination, but warmed up in about 24 hours. We believe that Tillie does adapt well to all situations -each one just takes time and for every new encounter or change of scenery, the adaptation time has be come less and less.

One more bit of info for Tillie's update - we got on the scale together and we're happy to say Tillie lost her first pound!

Matilda (aka Tillie) is adjusting well to her foster home after leaving her interim foster home with the Moyers. Tillie is getting along well with her 10.5 year old foster brother, Vito. Tillie enjoys walks and likes to explore outside. She's getting accustomed to all kinds of noises and environments and is coming out of her puppy mill shell. We've started a regular exercise routine and she walks well on a leash. Tillie discovered a toy yesterday and hasn't let it leave her side since. She is a very sweet dog and has NOT had an accident inside the house. She's spending more time each day away from her crate.  However, it is her comfort zone and she likes to have freedom to go in and out as she likes.

Tillie loves to give boxer kisses to the entire family and visitors. She has an excellent disposition and we need to continue to encourage her to enter all rooms of the house freely. She ventures through the house at times, but is still a bit timid and not accessing the entire house by her own decision. We'll continue to provide updates as her personality comes out, her progress on weight loss, and overall adjustment to a home environment.

Matilda or 'Tillie' as we call her, is just a joy to have around. She's all wiggles and kisses - all the time. She still spends a lot of time roaming around her new environment, getting used to living inside a house, but she becomes more comfortable everyday.  She loves to be outside running around and watching the neighbors.

Since being with her temporary foster, Tillie has done well with all the resident dogs, big and small. She has also not had a single accident in the house since being sprung from the mill. Tillie is going to make a wonderful companion for someone as she loves to be with people. Give this sweetie a chance and apply for her today!  Check out her video at the link below:

9/13/11 -

Miss Matilda was surrendered to AABR from a puppy mill.  Matilda is one of the luckier girls from the puppy mills - she is well-fed (actually overfed).  Matilda needs to lose a little weight to get her figure back. She is also well groomed and appears well socialized with people. As we find out more about this girl, we will update her page.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
