Greta has been in foster care for about 6 weeks now and in that time has made many baby steps towards fitting into the life of a 'family dog'. She is doing well and getting more socialized, but still has a way to go. We are working on her people skills, as she is quite nervous around them. She is learning what toys are and what playing is all about. She loves our resident dogs and they help show her the ropes. Greta happily accepts treats from hand, as long as they are tempting enough. Greta is a quiet, sweet, and very timid little girl who needs time and patience with her to learn what life can be like. She will be an amazing family member for some lucky family one day soon. Greta has been in foster care for just a little over a week and is settling in. This girl is a smarty- she already responds to her new name! Greta is slowly getting used to everyday objects around the house, including the TV, dishwasher, ice machine, etc. Everything is very new to her and can be a little frightening. She is quickly catching on to housebreaking and has had very few accidents. Greta LOVES to be outside to play with the other dogs. She seems like a free spirit when she is on the grass- running, playing, sniffing and enjoying life. Greta is still very apprehensive on people, but we are slowly gaining her trust (with the help of some tasty treats!). Greta has had a lot to adjust to in the past week. She has already made strides in her short time with us and will continue on her journey to a better life!

1/4/12 -

Greta came to AABR from a local puppy mill.  Her days in the mill have left a mark on Greta. She is very shy and nervous around people. Thankfully, Greta is wonderfully curious, which we believe will help her break out of her shell in time. This cute little girl has a dim light in her eyes that is just waiting to get brighter! She seems to find comfort being around our dogs and has more courage when following them. Greta has a road of emotional recovery in front of her, but I know that with a lot of love and patience from humans, it is completely possible. Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.  

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.  

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.
