Tyson is a very well mannered boy. He understands all his basic commands - sit, down, stay, and heel. He walks excellent on a leash and doesn't pull or tug while walking with his foster siblings. Tyson would do best in a home with another dog that he can play with and pull on tug toys with. He also needs a home with a fenced in yard as he enjoys running and exploring the yard. He would do better with a standard fence.  Tyson does not like cats and will bark relentlessly at them, along with birds. He has made significant progress in the past 2 weeks with his crate training. At first, he fought to get into the crate, but now he does go in and no longer barks or cries while in it. Tyson interacts great with our 9 year old daughter, but he prefers to play and snuggle with his 4-legged foster siblings. He does not get up on furniture and is very content sleeping on his dog bed. Tyson also enjoys spending time outside, laying on our deck and resting in the sun. If you are interested in providing a forever home for Tyson, apply today!

Tyson did great on his transport and should be going to his new foster home this weekend! Included are a few new pictures of this handsome boy. Information from his previous home indicated that Tyson is used to a fenced yard.  He is a friendly and playful boy.  Tyson knows his basic commands and his favorite toy is any kind of ball - he loves chasing them around the yard.  Apply today for this energetic boy!

3/1/12 -

Tyson is a handsome male boxer who was surrendered to the shelter due to landlord issues. Tyson previously lived with three children, ages 14, 15, and 17.  His previous owners report that Tyson does not like to be crated and he tends to chase cats. Tyson did well on his dog test at the shelter. He appears to be a timid boy who needs reassurance from his handler. Tyson will be neutered soon and then will be going to his new foster home with two other boxers. We will update his page once we learn more about him. Thank you for your interest in Tyson!

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
