Hooch has started in a training program @ Perfect Pooch in King of Prussia, PA. You can view Perfect Pooch @ www.thepackleaders.com Our good boy Hooch has already passed his evaluation and started his starter lesson. At Perfect Pooch, the Training Program begins with ten days in a happy, balanced dog pack. He will experience being in a “follower” state of mind by listening to a human “pack leader”. They supervise the dogs in the pack at all times and maintain consistent leadership. This is key to effective socialization and the dog becoming more balanced. It sets the stage for a leader-follower relationship, and they guide the owner to be the leader. During the dog's ten day stay, they also introduce core commands: come, sit, stay, down, walk nicely on a loose leash. In the weeks to come you learn how to manage these commands in five private lessons, which are scheduled at Perfect Pooch. The training program also gives a primer session to set you up for success. This is a session full of critical information that focuses on your dog's specific needs and issues. It includes helping reinforce training by establishing guidelines at home. Hooch will also have an opportunity to participate in the doggie daycare there to socialize with other dogs in a pack environment. Apply today for Hooch!

Hooch has settled into his foster home. He is a big boy at 74lbs already. He is a gorgeous looking boy. Hooch greets me every day when I come home -hopping around and boxer wiggling. He is just adorable. Hooch does need a home to be understanding and people to be patient with him during introductions to new people. He is very loyal to his family and just needs someone who will do slow introductions to new people and not let people just walk right in the house. Some people he does great with right away, especially men since he was owned by a man.

Hooch's owner had him since he was a pup and than gave him up to the daughter where he lived with 4 kids.  He was then dropped off at the shelter a few months later due to her landlord finding out she had another dog, so he has had a lot of changes in his first year of life. He is very friendly once he meets you, but also very confused and scared with all his changes. When doing introductions to new people, I place him on a leash and give the other person a treat and introduce him.

Hooch enjoys chasing around his ball or laying down chewing a bone. He is pretty calm for a one year old Boxer except when you first come home, he is super excited to see you and will do his Boxer dance and wiggles. He is getting the hang of the car and going for car rides and lays in the back seat now. He is crate trained and is used to being in there for approx. 5-6 hours a day. Hooch is completely housetrained and is okay being left for free run of the house. He learned the doggie door in a few days.

Hooch does well with my other male Boxer in the home. He likes to play in the yard or go for walks with him by his side. Hooch did live with another dog in both his prior homes. He does need a home, though, without small dogs or cats.  Most of the time, Hooch will sleep on the couch or lay next to your feet. He does enjoy his daily walks. Hooch spends his night time sleeping on the sofa with free run of the house. Apply today for this great boy!

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.

Adoptions Fee: Please see our adoption info by clicking on the link at the top of this page.
