This donation is in honor of our nephew, Sonny Adcock, one of the finest dogs we have ever known. He was handsome, playful, loving, intelligent, and sometimes ornery....and we loved him. We will miss you Sonny! -Kimberly Riper

Sonny and Moxie were able to stay together in foster care thanks to previous AABR adopters who opened their home to them. They are doing extremely well in their new foster home in the suburbs. They love the fenced in backyard and adjusted to the new environment seamlessly. Both dogs have such amazing dispositions and it is obvious that they can fit into any environment.

Moxie is the silly one that will climb up next to you on the couch, throw herself on her back, and writhe and kick while you rub her belly. Sonny would love to climb up on the other side of you (you quickly learn that they appreciate you sitting in the middle of the couch!) and settle in close, resting his head in your lap. If you make the mistake of sitting at the end of the couch, they will just lay on top of each other in order to both be close to you! They compliment each other perfectly and are a riot to watch together. If you are looking for EASY dogs, consider adopting this pair. They are good starter dogs, they are young but past the puppy stage and therefore are housebroken, crate trained and disciplined. What's better than an already trained young pair of best friends??

Sonny was found in an abandoned apartment with Moxie after their owners had apparently moved without taking them with him. Sonny then found himself in the scary shelter and separated from his sister. Despite this, he was a staff favorite. Everyone was rooting for him and Moxie to get out of the shelter and to see each other again. Lucky for them, AABR was able to pull them and temporarily get them into foster together.

Since being here, Sonny has demonstrated that he is a well trained dog. He is housebroken and crate trained. He is friendly with everyone he has met and did well with other dogs during his shelter evaluation (he has been kept away from any other dogs so far because of kennel cough). Sonny is easygoing with Moxie -he lets her take his Nylabone (or anything else he has for that matter). He really has an amazing disposition and would be an easy transition to any home!! The only thing better than adding Sonny to your home would be adding Sonny AND Moxie!!

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
