10/16/12

Maddie is all ready for Halloween!  We have included a picture of Maddie in her new costume.

10/1/12

Maddie is one of the sweetest and well behaved Boxer girls you could ever meet. She is a real love and although she gets along great with other dogs, she is a bit clumsy when she plays so can be a little much for smaller dogs and puppies. At the dog park near her foster home, she does great with all the other dogs who come there - but she ends up spending more time asking all the people to pet her than playing with the other dogs. She does play well with other dogs, she just prefers the company of people when they are giving her attention. Her only issue was her food guarding, which her foster mom has been working with and it isn't really an issue anymore.  The good thing about Maddie is that she wants to please and when she is told “No”, she listens. Overall, she is a very easy going girl who is a real sweetheart with everyone she meets.

9/2/12

Included are some new photos of Maddie from her foster home.  Everyone who has met Maddie has quickly fallen in love with her!  We are recommending a home with children over the age of 10, due to some food guarding that the foster mom is working to correct.  Maddie listens well and wants to please!

8/22/12

Maddie is doing fabulous in her foster home!! This girl will make some family VERY happy when she is adopted! Maddie has a wonderful personality - she is very sweet and very well behaved. Maddie is house broken and crate trained, but could use some leash walking manners. She loves meeting new people and warms up to them almost immediately. She doesn't jump on people at all and she is not a barker. Matter of fact, her foster home hasn't heard her bark yet!

Maddie's foster mom exposed her to a family member's kids, who are 3 and 5 years old, and she did wonderful! She did not mind the kids yelling and carrying on and she enjoyed being around them. Maddie especially likes to give out kisses. She also loves to play and would run behind the kids in the yard, but never once knocked them down or tried to take a toy away from them. Maddie also enjoys being with other dogs and integrates with them very easily.

Maddie's foster mom has had to get used to a tail wagging when Maddie gets excited and there is a kink near the end of her tail where it appears it may have broken at one time and then healed crooked. Maddie is spayed and ready to go to her new home. With her mild mannered personality, she is a fit for almost any situation!

7/28/12 -

Maddie was found as a stray and will be coming into rescue next week once she has been spayed. Maddie comes au naturale with floppy ears and a long tail. Her soon to be foster mom met her at the shelter today and reports she fell in love with this very happy girl who just wants to play, play, play when she isn't climbing in your lap in true Boxer fashion! The shelter reported she reacted positively with other dogs and when tested with cats, she kept her distance and was a little afraid of them but didn’t act negatively. The shelter also reports she has some food guarding issues. More information will be posted once she heals from her spay and is settled in her foster home.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
