Kessy is doing very well in her foster home. She is super sweet and is learning about all of life's simple pleasures now that she is in a home environment. She has gained some much needed weight and enjoys mealtime and treats - so much so that we have to hide the food so that she doesn’t get into it during the night!

Kessy lives with two boxers and would really love to have another dog in her forever home. She has learned so much from her foster brother and sister. She now understands the concept of playing with toys and absolutely loves playing with them. When she is done playing, she enjoys snuggling with her foster sister.

Kessy loves to be near people and likes all the attention she is getting from her foster family. Her foster family commonly refers to her as “Kissy-Kessy” because she will smother you in kisses given half a chance. Kessy is very energetic for a 4 year old and would benefit from a yard to play in to burn off energy. She would also benefit from some obedience training. She gets so excited to see people that she cannot contain her wiggles and jumping.

Kessy is crated when we are not at home. She doesn’t mind going in the crate, but will bark when you leave. The barking doesn’t last long and she settles down quickly. She shouldn’t be left in a crate when people are home though. She will bark as if to say “hey did you forget about me?"

Kessy has attended 4 outreach events. Although she has done well at them, she is overwhelmed by the sights and sounds of people, dogs and cars coming and going. She tends to be shy at first, but quickly warms up to people and other dogs once she is comfortable. Kessy walks well on a leash and only pulls when she sees something of interest. She has a high prey instinct and is very interested in rabbits, squirrels, etc. She managed to catch a bird in flight. In the nick of time, its life was spared and it flew away! For those reasons, she should not be placed in a home with cats or small dogs.

Kessy is nearly housebroken and only has an occasional accident here and there. She is an early riser and needs to be taken out first thing in the morning.  This girl deserves nothing less than a family that absolutely adores her.

We are surprised that somebody hasn't snatched up this adorable girl yet!  Kessy is still available for adoption and has attended the last few adoption events.  Included are some new pictures from today's event.  Kessy always has lots of kisses for everyone she meets.  Apply today for Kessy and give her a chance at a forever home!

9/21/12

Kessy continues to settle in well at her foster home. Her favorite time of day is mealtime. She has gained a little weight since coming into rescue, but is still thin. She is crated during the day and has learned that the leash means it is time to go out and potty. She strives for affection. Kessy will smother you in kisses if you let her. Each day she seems to learn something new from her foster brother and sister. She is starting to get the concept of playing with toys, although she loses interest in them quickly. Kessy is going to be a wonderful girl for a lucky family - apply today!

9/6/12

Kessy is doing well in foster. She is currently living with two other boxers and would love to have another dog in her forever home. Kessy is an energetic girl who would enjoy a fenced yard to run and play in. She walks great on leash and is an affectionate girl - Kessy is always ready to give lots of kisses! Her foster mom is working on housetraining and obedience.  New pictures will be coming soon. Apply today for Kessy!

8/22/12 -

AABR received a call for help when six boxers were removed from a property due to neglect. All of the dogs were being kept in the yard without proper food, water, or shelter. Most of them are very thin and need some TLC.  They have not been taught much and need a home that can provide training and guidance for them. The six boxers were removed to the care of a veterinarian, where they have been given a flea bath, dewormed, and vaccinated.  AABR will be transporting them this weekend.

Kessy is a petite brindle female who needs to gain some weight. She is energetic and loves to jump. Kessy is wonderful with other dogs.  She does well with the group from her property and also met two dogs from the vet's office that she wanted to play with.  Apply today if you can provide a foster or forever home for Kessy!

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
