We have learned so much about Cracker Barrel this past month!  He is a sweet laid back little boy with a stocky build who enjoys going for walks, but really gets excited to go for car rides!  He rides well and stays in his spot!  He has the sweetest face and loves to give kisses when he hasn't seen you in awhile!  He is really the ultimate couch potato, and is content to lay next to you or at your feet.  He's friendly toward everyone who comes into the home, sometimes jumping up on them - but we are working on that - as he is one strong little guy!  At bedtime, he quietly lays down right away and sleeps through the night!  He plays nicely with the resident dog, and when she takes his bones or toys, he patiently waits for her to drop them before retrieving what was originally his.

Included are some new pictures of Cracker Barrel in his foster home.

10/1/12

Cracker Barrel has arrived at his new foster home and is settling in really well. He is getting along great with the  resident female boxer in his foster home. Cracker Barrel knows all of his commands and responds almost immediately when his name is called. He is a cute boy with a great face. Cracker Barrel rides well in the car well and loves attention from people. His foster mom will update his page once she learns more about him. Apply today for this wonderful boy!

9/27/12 -

Cracker Barrel was originally found abandoned in a shed during the middle of summer without food or water. He has been with his owner for the past three years. Due to a change in life circumstances, Cracker's owner is now living with her parent and the resident male dog is not happy with Cracker being there. They are rotating the two dogs in different parts of the home and have asked rescue for help in finding a better environment for Cracker.

Cracker is estimated to be around 4 years of age. He is used to being alone 5-6 hours during the day and does not need crated. Cracker is currently living with two children (ages 1 and 3) and six cats - he does well with everyone. His owner has taken him to a dog park this past week, and Cracker is learning how to socialize with other dogs. He is still a little uncomfortable in this setting, but we feel he could be placed in a home with a female dog.

Our volunteer who met Cracker in his home indicated that he seemed friendly, happy, and healthy. He was great with the children and just ignored the cats. Cracker was super friendly with our volunteer, showering her with kisses. He does know some basic commands, such as sit and down and Cracker seemed to listen and behave well.  He will be going to his new foster home soon and his foster parents will update his page with better pictures and more information as soon as they get to know him better. Thank you for your interest in this sweet boy!

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
